The Pour House on the New River is located in Todd, just a short drive from West Jefferson and Boone. You can’t beat this idyllic location, directly on the banks of the river. Step out your front door, stroll across the beautiful lawn and put your feet in the water! At this cabin you get immediate access to fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, etc., with gorgeous scenery all the way. River outfitters just minutes away can set you up with everything you need for water adventure.

When you’re ready for relaxation, kick back on any of the home’s three covered decks. Read a good book, enjoy beverages and conversation, or simply watch the river flow. To wind down after an exciting day, picture yourself around the outdoor fire pit, listening to the river and soaking in starlight.

This lovely rental has the charm of a historic mountain cabin, but, built in 2006, it also offers all the convenience and comfort of modern living. The cabin interior features an open floor plan with tasteful furnishings and hardwood flooring throughout. In the great room you’ll find a large flat-screen TV with access to streaming services, and a beautiful stone fireplace (gas logs for your convenience). The kitchen is fully equipped for meals and entertaining on site, and provides a dishwasher, microwave, dining table for 4 and additional seating for 2 at the island.

On the main level you’ll also be happy to find the master bedroom and a full bathroom with a dual vanity. Two cozy guest bedrooms and another full bath are located upstairs. Each bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed. An additional recreation level is available on the lower level, with a ping pong table, walk-out access to the yard, and its own patio and river view!

Experience the High Country

Whatever your vacation objectives are, from The Pour House you’ll have easy access to all the activity and attractions of the High Country. Not only are you directly on the New River, you’re also about halfway between West Jefferson and Boone, and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

About 15 minutes away you’ll find downtown West Jefferson, which offers a charming assortment of shopping, art galleries and dining. This is small-town Americana at its finest. Be sure to browse antiques at Antiques on Main, or watch cheese being made at the Ashe County Cheese Factory. Grab a movie or a craft beer, and attend the farmers market (weekends).

Head out in the opposite direction to get to Boone and Blowing Rock, for an even wider assortment of dining, entertainment and shopping options. Tour the campus of Appalachian State University, or catch some live music. And remember that here in Blue Ridge Country, the journey is as satisfying as the destination, with gorgeous scenery at every turn. Don’t miss your photo, hiking or biking opportunities along the legendary Blue Ridge Parkway.

For the bicycle enthusiast, The Pour House is situated on the scenic Railroad Grade Road – a popular, picturesque route that meanders along the river into Todd, known for its old-time charm. This ride has been voted one of the 10 Best Bike Paths in North Carolina! Other nearby attractions include Grandfather Mountain, Mount Jefferson State Park, and the Tweetsie Railroad.

If you’re visiting in the summer, your activity options are endless, from golf, zip-lines, horseback riding, hiking, cave exploration, photography, mining for gems, or, of course, a wide and wonderful assortment of water/river adventures. Fall foliage is indescribably gorgeous. If you’re craving a snowy mountain winter, you’ve also come to the right place. Enjoy sledding, snowboarding, skating – and don’t forget skiing – all winter long.

Or – just sit on the deck and feel the stress of the city melt away…

Dogs Welcome! Must be well behaved, leash/crate trained, 2 years or older and 45lbs or less. $50 / per pet. 2 dog limit.
