Activities and Special Interests

Located in Franklin, Maine, 20 miles from Mt Desert Island, 14 miles from
Ellsworth shopping and 18 miles from another area of Acadia National Park,
Schoodic Point. Abundant hiking trails and lakes for freshwater swimming. On
those days when it looks gloomy or is raining it seems that everyone goes
shopping. Ellsworth has many excellent stores such as LL Bean, Reny's,
considered to be a Maine gem for many varied items in clothing, food, etc. And of
course the really greatest bargain store in Maine, Marden's. There are a number
of very nice antique shops in Ellsworth and if you enjoy antiques and
collectibles, don't miss The Big Chicken Barn located about 12 miles west on
route #1. There is no denying that Bar Harbor is well endowed with shopping at
it's finest.
