(graphically "Hli" in Icelandic)- The home has been designed to be a warm refuge among the boulders and trees of the property, up close to the wild rocky shoreline of Lake Superior yet sheltered by the surrounding forest. The house's design draws upon Scandinavian architectural attitudes and the related woodcraft traditions that are also a part of Minnesota's North Shore culture.- The heart of the site is the sauna, the ultimate refuge after a cold plunge in Lake Superior, offering a sheltered prospect toward the lake's endless horizon.Steep Driveway, Important Booking Information: Haeli House has a very steep, unpaved driveway to access the home. A 4WD/AWD vehicle is required for guests staying here in the winter months. It is highly encouraged the rest of the year.Security Cameras: There are two outward-facing outdoor security cameras on the front porch and the garage. Both face the driveway and car parking areas for plowing and security purposes.
