Property Description
Discounts for OPEN dates in JANUARY!
Your journey to paradise begins at the Campbell Courtyard compound, located in Old Town Key West. Campbell Suite, a condo on the second and third floors with one bedroom, 1 1/2 baths, makes a great place to anchor your vacation. The white stucco building houses this suite, as well as others. The three-story building was built in 1910 by Dr. J. G. Campbell. He was a surgeon dentist who specialized in gold bridges and crowns. Locals claim that the structure was used during WWII as a spy headquarters, but no records are available to confirm this. One flight up from Fleming is the front staircase, which leads to one of the most historical streets in KW. The back staircase overlooks the courtyard and leads to the quietest, most peaceful, and tranquil pools in town. You are just two blocks away from Duval Street, the famous, world-famous, funky, and bizarre tropical island community.
The solid front door opens up to an open floor plan that is flooded with natural light. It can be reached by climbing one flight of stairs. The sliding glass door on the wall to the right opens to a small balcony that includes two chairs and a cocktail table. This is a treehouse-like environment. You can see blue skies, rooftops and large areas with swaying palms. This is the perfect spot to grab a morning coffee or a drink at happy hour if you're visiting Key West for outdoor living. The washer and dryer are conveniently located in a small closet just to the right of the balcony seating area. This is a common practice in areas where space is limited and the weather is warm.
A couch and a chair provide a comfortable setting for conversation back inside. A ceiling fan whirls above, moving air gently and adding a Bogie & Becall ambiance. The large couch can be viewed from the flatscreen TV. It's a great place to catch up on old movies shot in the Keys, such as Beneath the Twelve Mile Reef (1954), or to binge-watch Keys TV series like Bloodline (2015)-2017. There is cable, high-speed wireless internet, a shelf stereo system and central AC. Netflix access is available on the Blu-ray DVD player. A round table with two chairs provides a place to eat or map out your day's sightseeing routes. The opposite wall houses a bookcase containing years worth of reading material as well as a basket of beach towels to make sure you are ready for any trip to the water's edge.
A large kitchen is ideal for cooking a four-course meal. If you prefer to warm leftovers from a delicious restaurant meal, this kitchen is perfect for you. The large window above the sink is the focal point of the kitchen. It pairs beautifully with the recessed spot lights, double sink, stainless appliances, and numerous wooden cabinets above and beneath.
The convenient and well-appointed guest half bath is located across from the kitchen. A dramatic spiral staircase leads to the bedroom level. The master bedroom is located at the top and features a comfortable king-sized bed, a full bathroom, a large closet that can hold folded and hanging items, and a full length mirror. The windows from this space, like the living-room balcony, allow for beautiful views of tropical breezes and lush foliage. A chest with many drawers gives you more storage space while an armchair with a lamp provides a place to read or just relax and put on your flip flops or Crocs. You will also find a wall-mounted TV and a DVD player.
You have yet to explore the best part of this rental, the courtyard and pool. The Campbell Courtyard guests have exclusive access to the pool. It is much larger than your typical Key West dip pool. It is heated and sized according to Key West standards. The pool/deck area is surrounded by a white picket fence with plenty of foliage. This creates beauty, privacy, and the tranquil peace of mind that only nature can offer. The pool is surrounded by chaise lounges and chairs. If shade is more appealing, you can claim your spot under the market umbrella seating area.
The entire Campbell Courtyard set-up is captivating, but there's more: a whole island of historical interest awaiting your exploration: beaches, conch-style homes, Civil War forts and museums, famous hangouts such as Sloppy Joe's and Elvis look-alikes. A new waterfront park and frightening sharks at the Aquarium. Most things can be reached easily by foot, bike, or the free bus service known as the Duval Loop. The island's main street, Duval Street, is less than two blocks away. Here you will find all kinds of shopping, art galleries and tours, open-air restaurants, bars and many other amenities. You can also find the Historic Seaport, which has more restaurants, tall-ship sunset sailings, more watersports opportunities, and waterfront restaurants with varying degrees of informality, a few blocks away. You can set your timer to avoid missing the Mallory Square nightly sunset celebration. Locals and visitors alike gather there to cheer as the sun sinks below the horizon.
