Property Description

The mere thought of planning a vacation brings a smile to many people's faces. Even better if your vacation includes a Conch Republic stay. Bay's Hideaway is a great option if you are planning on a vacation that includes this rental. The condo is a compact one-bedroom/one-bathroom unit that provides the perfect base for exploring the southernmost island of the United States. The condo is located on Old Town Key West's Fleming Street. It is also just blocks from the world-famous Duval Street. It is also close to Mallory Square and the Historic Seaport, which has a colorful Harbor Walk. There are many other must-see/must-do's on the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, and 14 blocks away.
The HOA will not allow pets.
Bay's Hideaway is a unit in the historic Seafoam Building. It has an open-air atrium and lofty ceilings. There are private balconies. These balconies allow for the kind of inside/outside living that Key West is known for. Bay's Hideaway is located on the top floor. Sitting on its large balcony feels like being in a treehouse surrounded with lush tropical foliage. (Please note that this is a third-floor walk up. There is no elevator.
Let's start with the front door at #8, which opens to a view through the light-filled window in your kitchen/dining area. To the right, you will find a full bathroom with a linen closet and louvered medicine cabinets. You can also have a stand-alone linen cupboard so your stuff is always out of sight. A ceiling fan with a light that whirrs above the ceiling lights the way, creating a tropical atmosphere and moving breezes. The condo's ceiling fan motif is charming.
An adjacent wall features a painting of a sea turtle that sets the tone for the condo's ocean theme. The living room is to the left and the kitchen to the right. The kitchen has plenty of space and all the necessary accoutrements to cook vacation meals or heat leftovers from a meal you had. The white cupboards above and below keep anything you don't use out of sight. The ceiling, floors, and countertops in this condo are made from luscious natural hardwood. It gives the space, and the entire condo, an unexpected uniqueness as well as warmth. One end of the kitchen can be used as a table/stool for four. The entire kitchen is lit by three large windows.
Open-space floor plans allow the living room and the outside deck to be seen from the kitchen. Ambient light is another major feature. A large window above the couch and French doors leading out to the balcony let in the sunday and night. Blinds are available if you need light, or just a little bit of it. You can enjoy your entertainment and comfort with high-speed internet and air conditioning. You can relax on the couch and watch the news, your favorite sitcoms, or a movie on a flat screen mounted on the wall to the side. The couch can also be converted into a full-sized sleeper. The couch is accented with colorful pillows, which add color and fun to it. The room is completed with a small coffee table, an area rug, lamps and a chair with ottoman. A cabinet below the TV completes the look.
A hardwood barn door slides open to reveal the bedroom. It is located on the same wall. The King bed is at the center of the room. Its sea blue and sand-colored dressings make it tempting to sink into its comfort. On either side are small lampshelves with lamps. In case you want to make sure your outing-on-the-town outfit looks exactly as you imagined, an oval mirror can be hung on one wall. A five-drawer bureau is large enough to store folded items, while a closet with louvered doors can hold your hanging items. The balcony is accessed via a second set of French doors, just like the living room.
The centerpiece of this residence is the balcony that runs the length of the condo. It can be accessed from the living room and bedroom. You will feel like you are in a little bit of heaven when you step out. The colorful area rug in palm green and sea blue brings life to the floor. It also features focal points of orange. The conversation area at one end has four chairs. You can sit here and enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon drink. This spot is perfect for reading a book you brought or the latest issue of your favorite newspaper. The perfect spot for eating, or playing cards is provided by a table and two chairs. You will most likely want to take in the beautiful sunrays and sea breezes that swirl the palms around you.
You can also look out from the balcony at the landscaped deck and shared pool three stories below. Seafoam building is the only one who can use the climate-controlled pool. The pool deck has a table and chairs at one end, making it a great place to relax. Maybe you'll feel inspired to swim in the turquoise water, or float on it while puffy white clouds and a flock water birds fly by.
After you have settled in, you can start exploring the island. There are many attractions, including beaches, conch-style homes, civil war forts and museums. You will also find famous hangouts such as Sloppy Joe's and Elvis look-alikes. A new waterfront park is also available. Most things can be reached by foot, bike, or the Duval Loop bus from your central location at Fleming Street. The island's main street, Duval Street, is just blocks away. Here you will find all kinds of shopping, tours, open-air eateries, bars, and art galleries. A few blocks away, you'll find Historic Seaport, which features tall-ship sunset sails and more water sports opportunities than you could ever imagine. There are also waterfront restaurants with varying degrees of informality. You can set your timer to avoid missing the Mallory Square nightly sunset celebration. Locals and visitors alike gather there to cheer as the sun sinks below the horizon.
Perhaps your tastes are more artsy. If so, you are in the right place to enjoy music, movies, plays and art galleries. Your accommodations are located within biking distance of Fort Zachery Taylor, a local beach where you can rent chairs and umbrellas as well as snorkeling equipment. There are also bathrooms, showers, a snackbar, and picnic tables. You might decide to explore the nearby Civil War-era Fort, which was designated as a National Historic Landmark back in 1973.
A guidebook from Books & Books, Eaton Street, or a visit to the Chamber of Commerce Information Center on Greene Street can help you make the most of your first trip to Conch Republic. Milezerokeywest.com has additional information about the current music scene, movies and plays, gallery openings and charitable events.
