Notes

What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

Beautiful cabin on the lake

Beautiful cabin on the lake. There was plenty of space for our family get together. The kitchen was large with everything you could possibly need to cook meals. There was also a grill out on the deck. The dock had 2 spots for jet skis. We rented one from the nearby marina. There were separate living areas so the teens and young adults had a place to hang out. The upstairs bunk room was great for the younger kids. There were two sets of washer and dryers which came in handy with so many people. There was also quite a few bathrooms which was nice with so many people. In all the cabin was perfect for our 5 day trip. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a great stay

We had a great stay. The home was clean, comfortable and exactly as described. It was well stocked, the location was beautiful and it was the perfect place for our family to relax and make great memories. Communication with the host's rental company was efficient and check-in was relatively seamless. We were required to provide drivers license and picture evidence on-line before receiving details. We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

This was a nice property

This was a nice property. The location and view are outstanding. The house had everything that we needed. It was clean and comfortable. It was a large home with ample space. The yard was wonderful. We enjoyed the grass. Unfortunately, at the time we were staying at the home the water had dropped and the dock was laying on the beach, only partly in the water. On our last day, someone did come and lower the dock into the water. For the price of this home and our reason for renting the house, the dock should have been in the water upon arrival. I am still giving 5 stars, but really feel the company should had reached out to us before arrival to notify us of the dock situation and also should have offered some sort of compensation.

Beautiful!

Beautiful home, plenty of space for all 10 of us. Water level was way down but that no way reflects the host at all but I’d say look into more info for the local area, especially if you are visiting expecting to fish. The host was responsive when needed, the house had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was fully stocked and with plenty of plates/utensils. The cookware also was great for making larger meals for our larger group. Would happily visit this property again.

Play Hard; Eat Well; Laugh Lots; Sleep Soundly!

What a blessing! The West of Yellowstone Lodge was basecamp for my first trip to the great Yellowstone National Park. I had no idea how vast and beautiful the area was! This home is adjacent to a lake with all the amenities of comfortable rooms and beds, spacious and clean bathrooms, and a large functional kitchen. While my group enjoyed the great outdoors of Idaho, Wyoming and Montana during the days, we luxuriously relaxed in the evening. My favorite part of the home was the space it allowed for me to connect with my people. Making meals and enjoying them at the table for ten made “family” meals memorable. The laughter. The stories. The board game playing. I will never forget them. The firepit at the lake's edge was the perfect wind down venue. I love me some s’mores!
