Property Description

A fabulous spot for families to enjoy lake fun, special dinners, and plenty of room for kids and adults to rest and play. The rental property is nestled in between the Champlain Valley and the ADK High Peaks region of the Adirondacks National Park. You are 50 minutes from Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain in the heart of the High Peaks wilderness area. It is about an hour's ride from Burlington, VT to the east and Montreal, Canada to the north.

The 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath property is perched on 2 acres overlooking Augur Lake and features comfortable sleeping arrangements for up to 15 people. There is ample gathering spaces for all ages and walk-out decks on all the bedrooms. The extra-large master bedroom upstairs has a king bed and windows overlooking the lake, sliding doors out to the deck, and an oversized jetted tub in the master bath with amazing views on 2 sides. It also has a futon/daybed as well as an adjoining walk-in closet that also has a twin bed for sleeping.

There are two additional bedrooms upstairs with comfortable queen beds, nice linens, ample storage and both also walk out onto a deck.

The 4th bedroom is on the lower level of the house and has a Queen bed and a twin-over-double bunkbed. The lower level of the house has its own full kitchen as well as a living room/game room area that has a double futon in it. There is a laundry room on this floor and a door to an outdoor sitting area near the path to the lake. The house sleeps 15 total!

The main floor of the house is spacious with room for everyone. You'll find a fully outfitted kitchen, a dining area and an adjacent sitting area that features a gas stove. These areas are all open to each other and sun-splashed with natural light from windows and sliding glass doors all around. All areas have access to the wrap-around deck. There is a comfortable family/TV room located on the main level of the house, situated in the back, so it feels a bit more private and quiet, perfect for reading a book or watching a movie.

A meandering, wooded path connects the house to its private waterfront area (note: the path is several hundred feet long). The waterfront is amazing, you can spend the whole day here. It is a large, flat grassy area with a fire pit and a picnic table - large enough to accommodate everyone enjoying sunbathing, playing games, eating lunch, or getting the boats in and out of the water....all at the same time! For the more adventurous vacationers in the group, there's plenty of room to pitch tents near the fire pit.

The swimming area is family-friendly with a soft pea gravel entrance to the water and a dock to swim from.

Included are a canoe, kayaks, and paddleboards as well as adult life preservers for your use.

Augur Lake is a private lake nestled between Poke-O-Moonshine Mountain, which has 1,100-million-year-old walls that resemble a gothic cathedral, and the Ausable Chasm, famous for its whitewater deep gorge. This is a peaceful agricultural area, as well, with farms that offer organic eggs, dairy and produce. Many natural springs, waterfalls, lakes, and streams dot the countryside. Adirondack Park is the largest state park in the U.S., with 6.1 million acres, although more than half of the land is privately owned and includes several villages and hamlets, such as Chesterfield. Outdoor activities and day trips abound in the Augur Lake region, including fishing and boating, swimming, hiking, rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, and golf. In the wintertime, nearby Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain, home of the 1980 Winter Olympics, offers skiing, snowboarding, sledding and tubing and ice skating.
