<strong>With the Watauga River just outside the home, you'll be continuously enveloped by the grounding drum of flowing waters. Please be advised that a long-term road widening project is currently underway nearby. As a result, construction activity may also be audible during your stay. </strong><br />
<br />
The Watauga River begins its 60 mile journey on the northern slopes of Grandfather Mountain and flows generally north and west into Watauga Lake on the North Carolina – Tennessee border. The word “Watauga” is derived from the Cherokee word “Watagi” meaning “beautiful waters” or “whispering waters”. This dynamic riparian zone is actually a migration corridor for many varieties of fish, birds and animals and plays a significant<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />
role in preserving biodiversity.</p>
<p background-color:="" font-size:="" open="" style="margin: 0px 0px 15px; padding: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: ">During good weather you can explore the river or try your luck at catching a variety of trout such as brook, brown or rainbow. This section of the Watauga River is now privately stocked and is exceptional for fly fishing! All fishing is single artificial lure, catch and release only. Live or scented baits are not permitted. Fly fishing guide services are available upon request. When it rains, the river rises and the kayakers come out to shoot the rapids.</p>
<p background-color:="" font-size:="" open="" style="margin: 0px 0px 15px; padding: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: ">Paradise Found and A River Runs Through It are two log cabins that comprise a 2.75 acre complex with the Watauga River running through the center of the property. Both cabins were built of hand-hewn hemlock from Washington State and pine paneling from Watauga County. Access to the property is a tree-lined gravel road that was once a portion of the railroad bed of the Western North Carolina- East Tennessee Railroad. </p>
<p background-color:="" font-size:="" open="" style="margin: 0px 0px 15px; padding: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: ">The cathedral pine ceiling and skylights of Paradise Found create a spacious warm feeling as you walk in. The main level features oak floors, a wood burning fireplace, Bose entertainment system, HDTV with Roku streaming services and SlingTV for regular programming, a well equipped kitchen with both a Keurig and regular coffee maker, and spectacular views of the river. You will also find the large master bedroom with a hand-hewn hemlock beam ceiling, king size bed, flat screen TV and full bath. This cabin is accessorized with fine original art, antiques and old photographs.</p>
<p background-color:="" font-size:="" open="" style="margin: 0px 0px 15px; padding: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: ">Walk onto the screened-in porch and experience hundreds of feet of waterfalls, boulders and pools. Enjoy unique riverfront dining at the granite table with four chairs or relax at the sitting area or in the Hot Springs hot tub. The porch opens onto a large deck with expansive river views, a picnic table and gas grill.</p>
<p background-color:="" font-size:="" open="" style="margin: 0px 0px 15px; padding: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: ">Both cabins are conveniently located near the main artery that connects the ski slopes of Avery County with the exceptional antique shops of Foscoe with the rich history of Valle Crucis with the great dining and entertainment of Boone and Blowing Rock. Several whitewater and fishing guide services are also located nearby. <br />

There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, several garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens will be provided.</span></span></span><br />

Travelers visiting during the winter months where inclement weather may be possible should come prepared with an AWD or 4WD vehicle, and chains may also be required if it snows. No refunds, allowances, or date changes will be given to travelers who are not prepared with the proper vehicle, as outlined in the Rental Agreement.</span></span></span><br />

We spent Thanksgiving at Paradise Found and it was one of our best holidays. The cabin was clean, quaint, well stocked and convenient to hiking and town. The view of the river from the deck and the relaxing sound was heaven. We also really enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Can't wait to return.

A scenic cabin situated down a gravel road, by a beautiful river in a great location. The cabin had everything we needed, while still being a quick drive to Banner Elk, Boone, and Blowing Rock. It was wonderful sitting on the screened porch and being mesmerized by the flowing river's sight and sounds.

Our family had an amazing vacation! The cabin was so cute and the view of the river was amazing! Access to the river was simple and allowed us to easily take our boys to play in the water each day. The location was perfect too! Short commute to everything we did; Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, Gem Mining and the original MAST general store. Don't hesitate and book today! So glad we did

This is one of the better and more unique properties in the High Country. Very nice and very peaceful. It sits right on top of the (quite peacefully loud) Watauga River and you will never want to leave the porch overlooking the water. We recommended it to all our family and friends. Time will fly by at this place so get it for at least 4 nights.

This was my 4th visit to A Paradise Found. Honestly I think everyone should add this place on their bucket list. If you enjoy solitude, outdoors, streams, wildlife and nature then this is the place to come. My husband and I take our 2 dogs and I think the dogs love it as much as we do.The house is so dog friendly with gates securing the large outside deck, a screened in cozy porch with rockers and table and chairs for dining outside. While outside you can enjoy the creek with roaring rapids and plenty of fish to catch/ release. If you are lucky you will see plenty of cute little critters hanging out by the rocks and rapids. Although this is your average looking mountain cabin, the inside is decorated with history and charm, yet so inviting and cozy. Convenient to plenty of shopping, dining, hiking, exploring etc..I have and will continue to always book with Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals. Best customer service experience I have ever had with rental companies.They go the extra mile to make sure from beginning to end you feel at ease with the process. During our stays they always reach out to see if we are ok and to make sure we have all we need! This place is one of my favorite vacation spots of all times. I am positive you would feel the same way once you have stayed. I will mention the site mentions it's a 1 bedroom and it's not. There is a bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a beautiful bedroom and bath downstairs. I have rented the cabin in winter, spring, summer and fall. I enjoyed them all so much it would be to hard to say which time to go! Take a chance and give them a try you will have no regrets and you will certainly be back! I don't actually like to review this place because it is my little private getaway but, the owner and Blue Ridge Rentals are worthy of the praising. PERFECT EVERYTHING

The river alone is worth the stay! We arrived at night so we couldn't see it, but as soon as we got out of the vehicle and heard the roaring waters we were so excited. The first morning we sat on the porch and just watched and listened to the water. Every day we went down and explored the river and our kids kept asking for more river time. We used the fire pit and the fireplace with ease. The highway is just on the other side of the river, so you do see and hear the occasional vehicle. The water pretty well drowns out the noise with the exception of 18 wheelers or motorcycles. I imagine in the colder months, when the leaves are gone, you'll see more of the highway. Regardless of that, we will absolutely be returning in the future!

We opted out of any site seeing once we were in the cabin...there could not have been a prettier site any place other than where we were. I was almost certain that when it was time to leave I would have to drag my husband kicking and screaming out of our cabin. :)
