Property Description

YOUR LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN This cozy cabin is located in a park-like setting with a beautiful masonry firepit, our own beach, unaffected by restrictions and crowds, and central air conditioning to cool off during the summer heatwave. The cabin has 9 beds and is bear-themed. The craftsmanship is amazing! The cozy feeling on cold winter nights is enhanced by a soapstone wood stove. We have been busy creating new trails that allow easy access to stunning ecological areas on the property, including wetlands, ponds, and riverfront walks. The river is a popular spot for fishing. In the summer, the clear water is great for a refreshing dip. Or you can walk along the shallow edges to enjoy a peaceful walk along the National Forest's edge. You can choose to ski, hike, fish, river tubing or just relax by the fire pit. The comfortable outdoor dining area has sectional seating and allows you to enjoy dinner on the deck. You can also walk to our front gate to find the muddy spot where moose are most commonly seen. This is one of the best spots anywhere in the North Country for moose sightings. You can sit on the deck and see our resident baldeagle fly by. It will be like being far from everything, but still close to all that Bretton Woods has. Views of the West Mountain ski trails. All dogs are welcome!

It is also close to world-class skiing and other attractions. A new Patio and firepit are available right outside the door. There are numerous streams, wetland areas, and ponds nearby. The river and its beaches are also a short distance away. A 7-foot deep swimming hole is available on the property. This will ensure that you have more privacy than at condos and not feel isolated. For larger groups, you can inquire about renting multiple units.

*About the Moose Lodge and Cabins:

The 32-acre lot is surrounded by National Forest and Ammonoosuc River. It provides habitats for many animals. Brown Bears, Moose and Snowshoe Hares are some of the most common animals you will encounter. Bobcats can also be found, but they are very secretive and rarely seen. The property is also home to hundreds upon hundreds of birds. The area in front the Moose Lodge is called "Brooks Field" and it is one of three designated open areas within the National Forest. This area is maintained by the National Forest Service to provide nesting habitats for many birds.

You will also notice a lot wetland on the property's Western side. These areas are home to small creeks and vernal lakes, which are home to salamanders and tadpoles in the right seasons. The fireflies, also known as lighting bugs, steal the show in early summer. They will be visible everywhere, but they are most common in wet areas where they engage in their amazing mating behavior.

Many people want to see moose, and they are rightfully so. They are beautiful, but they can also be a bit silly looking. The best spot is located just a few hundred yards to the left of our gate along 302. The best spot to see moose in New England is the muddy pit, which is a favorite stop on the moose tour. Remember that moose don't like heat and will stay in the woods during daylight hours. Spring is the best time to spot them, as well as the evenings and early mornings of the summer. They migrate to higher ground in winter because strong winds mean less snow accumulation, and easier access to food.

These are wild animals. Although attacks are rare, it is important to be cautious and not approach wildlife, no matter how docile it may appear. Even a small bear cub can be dangerous. Mama bear is not far away and will not allow you to get too close to her cubs. Bear in mind that bears are just as afraid of you and your cubs as you are of them. They will likely turn around quickly if you make a lot of noise. Please respect nature and enjoy our animals!
