Important Sargassum Notice: Sargassum seaweed naturally affects the coastlines of the Florida Keys, including Islamorada. Its presence varies throughout the year depending on wind and tidal conditions, and it can accumulate along the shoreline. Spring and summer months can be particularly affected. Sargassum is not cleared from the shoreline during these periods. Although it may affect the beach experience at times, it is a natural part of the marine ecosystem and provides an important habitat for numerous marine species.
