It is also easy to get to all the Disney Parks, Busch Gardens and Adventure Island, Sea World. Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo and the beautiful Florida Aquarium are also within easy reach.

Largo is the third-largest city in Pinellas County, and the fourth-largest in the Tampa Bay region. Largo is centrally situated in Pinellas County, near Clearwater, Bellair and Bellair Bluffs. Seminole is also nearby. The Tocobaga Indians were the native inhabitants of the Largo region. Their archeological remains at Safety Harbor are what make them the Safety Harbor culture. In the 16th century, the Spanish arrived in Florida. After years of being exposed to European diseases, Spanish settlement efforts, warfare between Spain, England, and Tocobaga, the Tocobaga was almost destroyed in the 18th century.

Like the rest of Pinellas County's Largo region, it was almost deserted. Spain gave Florida its sovereignty in 1763. Florida was again under Spanish control in 1783. It was then transferred to the United States in 1821. A surveyor had already located Lake Tolulu by 1845. It was roughly south of the present-day East Bay Drive. In 1852, James and Daniel McMullen became homesteaders in the Largo region. McMullens, along with other settlers, raised cattle, grew vegetables and citrus, and fished. James and Daniel McMullen served in the "Cow Cavalry", driving Florida cattle to Georgia, and the Carolinas to support the war effort. Others from the area served as blockade runners. Others left the area to join the Confederacy's army. Largo residents went back to farming, ranching and raising citrus after the war. In 1888, the Orange Belt Railway reached the region. The Orange Belt Railway reached the area in 1888. Lake Tolulu was renamed Lake Largo by this time. Residents of the community west the lake adopted the name "Largo".
