Ocean Crest Fishing Pier
Ocean Crest Fishing Pier | Top Fishing & Scenic Pier in Oak Island, NC

Ocean Crest Fishing Pier is located on the Oak Island beachfront, it sits along East Beach on Oak Island, just a short distance west of the Caswell Beach town line. The Ocean Crest Fishing Pier is one of the most popular attractions in the area for both visitors and locals. Stretching nearly 900 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, it’s one of the longest piers along the southern North Carolina coast and offers incredible views, great fishing, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
The pier is known as a top fishing destination, with anglers regularly catching species like Spanish mackerel, flounder, and bluefish. One of the biggest perks is that you don’t need a fishing license to fish here—the pier covers it for you. You can bring your own gear or rent equipment on-site, making it easy for beginners and experienced fishermen alike to enjoy a day on the water.
Even if you’re not fishing, the pier is worth visiting. It’s a great spot for sightseeing, watching dolphins, or catching both sunrise and sunset over the ocean thanks to its south-facing beach. There’s also a casual beach bar and grill on-site, so you can grab food and drinks while enjoying the coastal views.
Good to know:
- Located on E. Beach Drive (near Caswell Beach)
- Fishing, walking, and sightseeing allowed
- Typically open daily (hours may vary seasonally)
- Family-friendly and beginner-friendly
If you’re visiting Caswell Beach or Oak Island, this pier is definitely one of the must-see spots—whether you're casting a line or just taking in the view.
