The Georgian Pillars is a 1900 Georgian Revival Home, with lavish oak woodwork and stained glass windows, that has been lovingly decorated in the teal and mauve hues of the Victorian era.
This monumental structure of buttered brick with curved Ionic porches was built for R. Ross Watt, President of Watt Mining Car Wheel Company.
This bed and breakfast has been in operation since 1991. Hostess Janet Thompson is proud of how many guests she's welcomed back to Georgian Pillars during that time and invites you to visit when you're in the area.
The Georgian Pillars is just 1/2 block from the Barnesville Antique Mall, 1 mile from Barnesville Hospital and the Quaker Olney Friends School, 22 miles from St. Clairsville, and 30 miles from Oglebay Park in Wheeling, West Virginia. There is also a golf course just 8 miles away.

Stepping through the massive oak door bordered by beveled glass, you'll experience the charm and gentility of a by-gone era in our 14 room Georgian Revival Home. Comfortable elegance is the mood set by your hostess. Enjoy your leisure time in the upstairs parlor with a country Victorian theme. Or visit in our restored main floor with a fireplace and tin ceiling, which adjoins a small gift shoppe.
The Georgian Pillars offers four spacious bedrooms for your comfort and two shared baths. The Plum and Hunt Rooms feature queen size beds with day beds. The Carriage Room has a full size bed. The Maid's Quarters has a queen size bed. All rooms have television sets, and four of our rooms have air-conditioning. Your hostess believes true elegance is defined by making your stay comfortable and worry free, so you'll find accommodations include the idea of trying to meet your schedule for check-in and check-out.
After a relaxing night in one of our comfortable bedrooms, start your day off with elegant breakfast dining in our pillared dining room which features a fireplace. A full breakfast is served.
Stop and catch your breath in this hectic world with a return to the beauty of fine workmanship and detail in this marvelous old home. Here the quiet is broken only by the sounds of family and the ticking of a large old grandfather clock nestled on the landing of the oak staircase.
In the summer, enjoy the soft breeze as you linger on the inviting front porch.
