Property Activities

This region of the beautiful Kiamichi Mountains is Oklahoma's best kept secret. Many people have no idea that Oklahoma contains this type of scenery and landscape, which is similar to the Ozark and Smoky Mountains of Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee.

Deep in the mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma is a mountain lake surrounded by national forests, state parks, clear running streams and the kind of solitude that has to be experienced to be truly appreciated.

This scenic area known for its luscious green forests and abundance of clear water provides a fun-filled environment for may popular outdoor activities such as canoeing, boating, hiking, bird watching, golfing, scuba diving, hunting, mountain biking, horseback riding four wheeling and all types of fishing. The Broken Bow recreation area is one of the most visited parts of Oklahoma. There are 14,000 surfaces areas of clean water to splash around in. Boating opportunities are awesome. This is the perfect place to sit quietly and feel the wind blow or jump the cliffs out on the lake.

Fishing - The fishing is terrific: 3,850 trout are released in the Mountain Fork River below Broken Bow Lake every other week from March through December. Below the lake is 14 miles of prime trout habitat in the tail waters fishery of the Lower Mountain Fork. Presbyterian Falls is one of the favorite sites among knowledgeable fly fishers. The area is characterized by shelf rock created water falls, medium to large boulders and deep holes. The lake is a great location for bass with the larges large mouth record of 14.7 pounds, striped bass, walleye and crappie. fishing. You might check with the Beavers Bend Fly Shop for guide service which is located on the banks of the river inside Beavers Bend State Park area. Or click on the Fishing link here for Three Rivers Fly Shop.

The Lake – Broken Bow Lake has 180 miles of shoreline; it is one of Oklahoma’s most scenic lakes.  A great way to spend a beautiful day and located about 20 minutes from the cabins. You can see your feet while treading water, jump the cliffs and notice that hardly anyone has discovered it. And it’s a great location for bass with the larges large mouth record of 14.7 pounds, striped bass, walleye and crappie. fishing. Oriented North to South – sailing enthusiasts report it’s some of the best sailing they have ever experienced. Beavers Bend Marina  has everything you need to enjoy this most beautiful lake with boat, Jet Ski and house boat rentals.

Resort Park - For even more to do around the lake area the resort park features guided horseback rides on scenic trails, hayrides, paddle boats, sandy beaches with roped off swimming areas and much more. It is at the park where you can ride the miniature train and seeing deer is almost guaranteed. This ride always brings a thrill to the little ones.

Hiking - The serious hiker is always drawn to Beavers Bend Resort Park where there is over 16 miles of hiking trails with 4 miles of multi-purpose (mountain bike) trails that wander along ridge tops, over creek bottoms, through tall stands of timber and into areas so remote one can almost experience what early-day explorers much have felt upon seeing the Quachita National Forest for the first time. There are many short and not-so-serious trails for a variety of short and long hikes for the not-so-serious hikers as well.

Floating the River or Canoeing Outfitters - For a full or half day of fun for the inexperienced to those needing a bit of a challenge, this is the activity where memories are made. Bring your camera, an ice chest of drinks and snacks, sunscreen and nothing that you would mind getting wet. We recommend putting everything in a waterproof, floatable bag – just in case.

Golf – Bring your clubs to Kiamichi Country – play in the early morning mist, surrounded by forests and mountains. Or play in the fall and be treated to a red-orange-and yellow leaf show unlike any place in Oklahoma, all while you are swinging your clubs!
