Property Description

All you have to do is just show up. This cozy one-bedroom cottage has everything you need for your dream vacation. Inside the gated enclave, a large, heated, residents-only pool creates a visual centerpiece. It's easy to imagine yourself lazing in the shimmering turquoise water, on one of the pool deck's slatted chaise lounges, or in the shade of a nearby umbrella. Maybe all three in that order. The eleven residential hideaways that circle the pool are tucked behind meandering pathways and lush tropical gardens. This makes the compound feel like a well-groomed park with just glimpses of the living spaces at the perimeter. Your cottage, number one, is no exception.

Embodying the architectural philosophy of easy flow between indoors and outdoors, every room of this bungalow opens through floor-to-ceiling French doors onto a private wood plank deck. Sit here to admire Key West's blue skies. Maybe enjoy that novel you brought with you. Or if you feel more energetic, barbeque some fresh local fish for lunch or dinner. Then relish your meal with a glass of wine at the outside dining area complete with red market umbrella and cushioned chairs around a patio table.

The outside theme of casual island life style continues inside. The minute you enter the sparkling white kitchen, your eye is drawn up to a large ceiling skylight that adds drama, a sense of design creativity, natural light, and a view of swaying palm fronds. A lighted, stained glass window panel adds color and artistic interest. Under foot is a functional and aesthetic natural stone tile floor. All the kitchen amenities you'd expect are at your fingertips in this nicely arranged layout.

The great room functions as a dining and living area. Vaulted ceilings with Casablanca-style fans create a spacious and airy environment. The peach walls reflect the warm stone floor tiles and create a perfect backdrop for unique, saucily colored works by local artists. A conversation area with comfy couch, coffee table, and chairs also serves as the perfect place to watch TV or a movie. Have coffee or a whole meal at the dining table while gazing out the French doors at the tropical view.

Off the great room is a small office space and library complete with desk, book shelves, and a rattan unit for holding paper and other supplies. Adjacent is a half bath. Next comes the master bedroom with a queen bed decked out in plush, colorful bedding, a bookcase, and a four-drawer dresser. The dresser also serves as a TV stand for any late night or early morning viewing you might indulge in. The room offers plentiful closet space as well. In the master bath, multicolored pebble flooring and accents set off the shower stall. Glass block in a classic wavy pattern forms one shower wall, providing design interest, maximum light, and just the right touch of privacy.

After you've checked out your cottage, unpacked your suitcase, and are ready to venture out, you'll find yourself near two convenient corridors. The first is White Street, which runs the fourteen-block length of the island from the Gulf of Mexico to a fishing pier jutting into the wide Atlantic Ocean. On White, you'll find art galleries, Faustos Food Palace, convenience stores, the Island Gym and yoga studios, to name a few. The second corridor is Truman Avenue, which takes you the six or so blocks to Duval St, the central artery of entertainment. There you'll find what Key West is famous and infamous for: tours, beaches, museums, Mallory Square sunset celebration, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants, many with open-air seating, some right on the water. Maybe try a Howler at the Flying Monkey or have your picture taken with a parrot on your head. You'll soon discover the truth in this pronouncement by a local character: "There's no place on earth like Key West." This home is Pet (Dog) Friendly**(please see below or our FAQ page for rules and restrictions)
