Notes

What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

Great large shared studio apartment with comfortable beds...

Great large shared studio apartment with comfortable beds, very functional kitchen and bathroom and well supplied linens, grills (2), and garage space. Garage definitely a highlight for our fishing group. TV with functioning CD player and great library of videos (not smart TV). Could use a fan in kitchen for cooking, but good ventilation in room with windows opened. Clean and in great repair overall.

Great For Small Groups

We really enjoyed our stay! It was the prefect rental for a short weekend trip. We had 6 people and it was the perfect size! It is very close to the main cabin so it’s not as secluded as others but it actually didn’t bother us at all!

A good few days

The place was in an interesting location. It was clean and well stocked with supplies. The neighborhood was dusty, but quiet. We had a good stay and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an alternative, affordable option to staying inside of Yellowstone.

Stay in the woods

Apartment with a garage! We really enjoyed our stay. 35 min drive to Yellowstone was not a big deal. The Apartment/garage was perfect for us. Our son and granddaughter joined us. The open floor plan was great for us to be together. Everything was supplied. We brought food and cooked. Loved having a dishwasher. We had use of the garage which was very nice. The rental company checked on us daily. They were very responsive.

Excellent Yellowstone Cabin

Our family was very happy with this cabin 40 minutes from the west entrance of Yellowstone Park. The advertisement was super accurate and there were no surprises. The property managers were very kind and the communication was excellent. I would highly recommend this cabin to family members and friends!

Backcountry Snowmobiling

by on 03/01/2023 00:00:00
Will offer this review based on the purpose of our stay, Backcountry Snowmobiling at the end of Feb 2023. We had Above Average Snowfall for this time of year, snotel had 90" on the ground. Snowbanks in Shotgun/Yale Creek Village were over the truck cab. We had a smaller 3 place 19ft inline trailer and diesel truck, and it was obvious about 3/4 to the cabin off the main road that we had no business in these tight snow packed paths with a trailer. We returned to rental office and wisely left our trailer in the adjacent parking lot, unloaded sleds, and We put chains on the 4x4 truck and made our way to the cabin. There had been a fresh 10" that hadn't been plowed out yet so the chains were insurance. Once plowed chains, not necessary, but recommend you have them along. We arrived at the cabin to a heated garage with floor drains which was awesome to park in and unload/load gear. We parked our sleds in each night to thaw out. We loved coming back after long day of riding and just pulling our snow packed sleds in to thaw out, and gearing up in the morning in the warm shop. Soooo Nice!!! The studio apartment above is very spacious and roomy, perfect size for 3-6 slender. More than 6 would start to be too many. We had 3 and it was more than we needed. Kitchen has adequate cooking utensils. Gas fireplace heated the room up very nicely, which felt great after a day of shredding pow. My only recommendations or requests would be more hooks to hang gear to dry, there is a small closet next to the dryer, but will only hold 1 riders worth of gear. After a day of face and chest shots of powder, every rider has a minimum of 8-10 pieces of gear to dry out, so more hooks near the fireplace, walls, heated stairwell etc, would really make this place the ultimate 3-4 person snowmobile lodge. Aside from the challenge of getting to the cabin certain times of the year, once you are there it is worth it. Nice quiet wooded neighborhood. Will definitely be staying again.

Perfect fishing cabin

by on 10/09/2022 00:00:00
This is our second stay at this awesome cabin. It is in a setting with dense trees surrounding it, and an adjacent cabin, and down a fairly cratered dirt road. It is comfortable, spacious, and has an awesome tall and deep garage that we were able to store a trailer and truck in each night. Very well equipped, nice entertainment center and well equipped kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. Will be back.
