High Country Inn
is located in western Sierra County, California. We are just off Highway 49, the famous "Golden Chain Highway" that winds its way through the historic California Gold Rush country of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The North Yuba River flows swiftly by, literally at our doorstep.
The awesome Sierra Buttes tower above us, providing an incredible backdrop to the beauty of the Inn itself.

Cathedral windows frame incredible views of pond, buttes, and river. Private bath with large antique tub and modern shower. King bed. Fireplace.
Howard Creek Suite:
Magnificent panorama of buttes, pond and creek. Large room. Private bath with jacuzzi tub. Private deck. Two beds: one king size and one day bed.
Aspen:
Views of the pond, aspen trees and the Sierra Buttes. Detached private bath.

Activities Abound!
The Tahoe National Forest surrounds you at High Country Inn, with four seasons of outdoor activities at your feet:
Fishing: Over 20 trout-filled mountain lakes within ten miles.
Snowmobiling: Access to a vast network of groomed trails is right outside our door!
Cross-country skiing: The entire North Yuba River region of the Tahoe National Forest is open to you. Ski-only trails are available just a few miles up Highway 49.
Hiking: The Sierra Buttes and Lakes Basin Recreation Area are crisscrossed with a comprehensive network of trails. The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail crosses Highway 49 just 4 miles from the Inn.
Golf: Five courses are available at Graeagle, just 17 miles from the Inn.
Plus! Bicycling, swimming, boating, bird watching, museums, antique shops, gold mines, mountain wildflowers, horseback riding and more...
And yet, with an uncrowded atmosphere you were sure no longer existed anywhere in California.
