Video Introduction
Property Information
This property is sweet! 100 acre ranch with indoor and outdoor riding arena on Spencer Lake, 3.5 miles outside of the very cool town of Whitefish – great night life, shopping and dining. The house is absolutely awesome and is 6,200 sqft. with 6 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, three common areas, a game room and can sleep up to 24 people (we'll
let the pictures speak for themselves). There is horseback riding, horse boarding and horse training. Ever watch a horse being trained -it is something you will talk about for a long time to come.

The Indoor arena 60X100 is heated and can be utilized all year round to improve riding skills, take lessons, take part in scheduled clinics or watch a trainer work with the horses.

The outdoor arena 136 X 232 is a true western style arena where we conduct clinics, give lessons, and do ranch sorting and team penning with cattle. The arena is a great place to improve on your horsemanship and to try out barrel racing and other fun activities.

The Gazebo is a short relaxing scenic walk along Spencer lake. Take in the nesting geese, see the ducks, bald eagles, hawks, coyotes, deer and more while you make your way out to one of the most special places on the property. Equipped with running water, electricity, a
bar and a wood stove the gazebo overlooks our dock on Spencer Lake. Sit back and relax and let the Montana experience surround you.

The Entertainment Area located just outside the stables has a sunken bar, fireplace, and a sitting area complete with incredibly inviting leather love seats and couches. Look into the display table to admire the way things were with the Bar W collection of artifacts.
Or, stroll outside and sit on the deck and watch all the activities of a ranch in action.

    Property Activities
What isn't there to do in this year round playground. You can downhill and cross country ski, snowmobile, dog sled, snowshoe, ski out of bounds, horseback ride, sleigh ride, etc. in the winter. OR, in the warmer months April through October, horseback ride, boat, fish - lake or river, hike, mountain bike (out the back door), hot air balloon, take a helicopter ride, golf, white water raft, etc. Then there is the town of Whitefish with its logging town charm. Great shops, fine dining, the theater company, and the people are all pretty cool.

Calling Glacier National Park (23 miles away) "the Crown Jewel of the Continent" doesn't really do it justice - so take the highway to the sun tour, sit back and get ready to be amazed. Whitefish Lake two miles away has it all, swimming, boating, fishing, and all the water sports you can think of. Our lake is crystal clear and has some of the area's best pike fishing in it. It used to be a trophy trout lake so there may still be a lunker or two in there.

Glacier International Airport is less then 15 miles away.  Big Mountain Ski area is 7 miles away. Whitefish Lake Golf Course, Montana's only 36 hole golf course is first class and only 1.5 miles away. Whitewater rafting is 23 miles away and there is an endless number of other things to do just around the corner.

Mandy’s pictures are wonderful. We’ll be expecting the Bar W calendar. Leah and Justin are great wranglers and just a sweet as can be. I highly recommend the all day ride. Ted is hilarious. Cowgirl Up was the best gift I could have given myself for my “50th” birthday. I was very nervous when I saw how big my horse was, but Ted had encouraging words and Leah was so great to tell you what to do. The women here made me laugh, we all formed a strong bond, if only for a few days. I brought one best friend, but ended up with many, I will always remember “Bar W” and hope to return one day! Many thanks, Patty Peak, Sandpoint, Idaho

The people, the food, the horses, the (scenic) views; what a “WOW” experience. Keep up the great job and this will grow bigger then ever. Margo Clark, Finger Lake Region, NYS

Thanks for providing a “little peace of heaven”. Everything was perfect, wonderful food, guest hospitality and great sturdy mountain horses. What more can I say! Mary Benson, Adirondack, Lake Champlaine, Lake Placid Region, NY

Horse owners who wanted to ride in the west without trailering horses. Bar W was recommended by friends and it has lived up to its expectation. My wife is the best skeet shooter in the family. We were lucky enough to find a mule deer antler. The riding was the best; it was self directed and great! Cayuse and Faith are real troopers. The Canadian Border ride superb! Really enjoyed our stay! Lessons great! Colin McNaull, Hinesburg, Vermont

I enjoyed the range of activities and almost tried them all. For Colin the riding was paramount. I was especially impressed with the family atmosphere and the inclusion of staff at meals and other activities. All (staff) were friendly, knowledgeable and felt a sense of pride in what they represented. The food! The food! There are not words to express appreciation for Darla & Sandi! Earla Sue McNaull, Hinesburg, Vermont

Our visit to the Bar W was two-fold. Firstly it has been a lifelong dream to visit Montana after years of writing to a pen pal here as child. Secondly it was to overcome a fear of horse riding as a result of a bad accident in the UK. Our visit here has met all our expectation, dreams and more! The careful management of the ranch by Ted is evident in all his people show have a “can do” attitude at all times (with safely and fun built in at all times). A special mention must go to Dave whom without I don’t believe I would have trusted myself to overcome my fears and enjoy the rest of the week. Thank you Dave! We would like to give special mention to Mandy who is not only a talented rider but a beautiful photographer and talented girl. Justin we thank for his manner and caring smile. James we thank for his fun and taking us on trails that needed to be ridden. Steve we thank for his kindness and genuine interest in people. Leah we thank for showing us some of the most stunning scenery in the world and her caring nature. Above all I must thank Blue Duck for taking care of me and restoring my faith in horses, they are God’s special creatures. If I could pack him in my suitcase I would take that gentleman home! Thank you all for a super holiday. We will be back. Pauline & Lily, Scotland

What a wonderful time! There was great food, wonderful staff, exciting rides and beauty beyond words. Thanks for a wonderful time! Jason & Angie Herring MS

Thanks for everything! There was great food, good people, and beautiful views. We definitely have to come back and stay longer than two days. There is so much more we wanted to do! Lana & Abe Caldwell, Lethbridge, Canada

After a week of roaming around Montana we found Bar W and finally relaxed! You have a new fan! I took a couple of brochures for my women’s riding group, but should have taken a few dozen. Thanks for everything. Mark & Mary, New Hampshire

The room, staff and food were the best. We really enjoyed the all day wilderness ride from the ranch. What a perfect time of year to see the trees color. I understand why Bob really wanted to return here! Until we meet again. Bob & Karen Lund
