His name is Burt and he's a yurt. A yurt, of course, is a circular structure with wood lattice framing surrounded by a canvas cover. The popularity of off-the-grid, glamping vacationing has taken off in recent years, and Burt the Yurt is excited to offer North Shore visitors that very opportunity at his secluded setting outside of Grand Marais, Minnesota. Burt is a pretty standard yurt. He's circular, and has a bed, a small dining table, and a couple of chairs to lounge on. He has a mini-fridge to keep fresh food nice and cool. He has a coffee pot so you can make your morning cuppa joe. He also has a wood-burning stove/fireplace with provided firewood so that you can enjoy visiting Burt all year round (assuming you're good at building fires). There is no other heat source, but that's part of the fun of glamping. On the outside, Burt the Yurt has an attractive dusty rose coloring to his canvas. A small but efficient deck will allow you for enjoying your morning coffee outside where you can hear the birds chirping away in the nearby woods. There's also a picnic table and a fire pit to help you enjoy your time outdoors on this spacious and secluded property even more. The whole experience is capped off with a lovely seafoam green outhouse, perfect for those moments when nature calls and you just have to go. There is no running water, but there is electricity. And Wi-Fi! You will need to bring your own water, but you can do some grilling on the gas grill, plus firewood is provided. Really, what more could you need? Sure, there may be things you might want, but please don't tell Burt that. He can be sensitive sometimes. Ultimately, Burt just wants you to come and enjoy the beautiful Northwoods and make him your home base for your North Shore explorations. His setting is wooded and secluded, although you are just a short walk from a beautiful section of the Cascade River and a short drive to the Pike Lake public boat landing. Burt is also just a short drive from Grand Marais which is filled with unique art galleries, stores, and restaurants while also being centrally located to many wilderness outdoor activities available on the North Shore. Only a few miles away are state parks, beaches, the Gunflint Trail, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling trails, and so much more. You will find adventure year-round in Grand Marais.
