Property Information
Rolak Ranch on the AuSable River is located on the East Drive Peninsula where the AuSable make a 180 degree bend around a beautiful stretch of land populated with Big Pines and Hardwoods. The lodge sleeps 6 with queen bed in master on main floor and 2 bedrooms up; one with 2 twin beds & one with queen bed. Large deck on Riverside overlooking the AuSable and it's natural surroundings. Private setting. Great Trout fishing in season and summer kayaking, canoeing, tubing and swimming! Mio offers canoe, tube & Kayak rental service with drop off and pick-up. Newly decorated and furnished, the lodge offers very comfortable accommodations with fully equipped kitchen w/snack bar, 2 baths, laundry and satellite TV (You can leave the TV off and lounge on the deck enjoying nature and the flow of the Beautiful AuSable River and the wildlife that frequent the area).
For larger groups, consider booking both the Rolak Ranch and Riverbend Lodge as they are both near to each other on the East Drive Peninsula.

Oscoda County... offers it's visitors the real feel and beauty of being "Up North" with its Thousands of acres of Rolling Huron National Forest and AuSable State Forest Lands. There is an Amish Settlement in the county where Amish merchants offer for sale everything from "Amish Baked Goods" and "Hand Crafted Furniture" to The Amish Pioneer General Store.
The AuSable River... is one of only a few in the nation to be designated as a "Scenic Wild River". It is widely known for its fly fishing for Brook, Rainbow and Brown Trout. The river is also exceptional for it's canoeing, kayaking and tube float trips. You can take a float trip ranging from a short 1 hour trip to a several day excursion all the way to Lake Huron. Riverbend lodge is located in the heart of the Huron National Forest with Thousands of acres of riding and hiking trails throughout the forest. Easy access to the famous "Shore to Shore" riding and hiking trail spanning the two Great Lakes of Huron and Michigan. Great summer and fall horseback riding, walking and RV riding trails (RV trails are designated as such). The Forest becomes a "Winter Wonderland with many, many of miles of groomed trails for snowmobiling. The lodge is open all year for All Season Recreation and relaxation.
The Big Creek... is one of the States finest fly fishing streams. Classified by the DNR as one of the few "Blue Ribbon" Trout Streams in the state for Brook, and Brown trout.
Golfing... in the area can be found locally at "Fairview Hills" (18 holes), "Cedar Valley" (18 holes), "The Sidewinder" (18 holes) and the Famous "Garland Golf Course" (72 holes). Each course offers a unique challenge for golfers of all level, from beginning amateur to PGA pro.
Many Inland lakes... for swimming, fishing and boating including Smith Lake, Perry Lake, Crooked Lake, McCollum Lake, Bass Lake, Loon Lake, Island Lake, Mack Lake and the Backwaters of the AuSable River.
The AuSable Valley Railroad... a narrow gauge railroad featuring tour rides through the woodlands, over the trestle and thru the tunnel all powered by a Diesel Locomotive and an authentic Steam Engine. The entire property features railway buildings, a water tower and a boarding depot all constructed to reflect the era of the Great Train Rides across the country. A must see for the railroad enthusiast and the curious.
Horseback Riding & Hiking... opportunities abound with two local riding stables in the area and Thousands of acres of forest trails and camping sites along the way.
The Northern Michigan Relief Sale... at the Oscoda County Fairgrounds is one of the major events that takes place annually the first Saturday of August. Many fine hand crafted items donated by the Mennonite Churches across the state including furniture, instruments and hand made quilts.
Auctions held each weekend... at the two action houses in Fairview, Let's Talk Auction and Troyer's Auction are held on some Fridays and every Saturday usually beginning at 10 am. Many items that you cannot live without will be sold at these auctions.
Winter Activities include... Cross Country Skiing and Snowmobiling at its finest with many miles of groomed trails thru the Thousands of Acres of Huron National and AuSable State Forests. |
