This delightful, four-bedroom/three-bath beach home is a fabulous family vacation rental! Light, airy, and beautifully decorated, it boasts 2 living rooms and four separate living levels for ample privacy. Perfect for 2 families!
The house has a modern, well-appointed kitchen and three refrigerators on various levels -- one small plus two apartment-size. There is off-street parking for three cars.
The house is set back from the street, and has a lovely private yard with a large picnic table and an additional covered, outdoor area. Dine outside under the stars or inside. There is comfortable seating for ten both inside and out.
Select your own entertainment from the seven TVs -- all with VCRs! There are two living rooms -- one with a wet bar -- for added privacy and great entertaining options.
Each of the four bedrooms has a queen-size bed; and one of the living rooms has a queen-size sleep sofa. The bedrooms are located on three separate floors for added privacy.
It's just a short walk to the lovely beach (1.5 blocks). Great local shops and restaurants are also just a short walk away.
Watersport options include water-skiing, sailing, wind-surfing, fishing, and jet-skiing. Golf, tennis, and other recreational options are nearby.
For those who want a working vacation, the home offers high-speed wireless Internet access.

Pleasant House in a Great Neighborhood

Three friends and I rented this house for a week of mah jongg at the beach. We found it clean, pleasant, and well-furnished. It was excellent for four women traveling together because the bedrooms were very private. It might also be suitable for a two families or a family traveling with adult children. The pictures don't do the house justice, perhaps because of its unique layout. It's basically a split level with four different levels. There is one bedroom on the entry level. A short flight of stairs brings you to the living room, which has a full bath attached. There is a second flight up to the kitchen level. A family room (with a sleep sofa) is adjacent to the kitchen. Off the family room is another bedroom and another full bath. Then, there is another short flight of stairs leading to two bedrooms and a third full bath. There is also a lovely, shady back yard with tables, chairs, and grilling facilities. All of the furniture is modern and attractive. There are also TV's with cable (both Philly and B'more) in every bedroom and in the common areas, a music system, and internet access. The house is at the north end of Dewey Beach, about two blocks from Rehoboth. Despite Dewey's reputation as a party town, the neighborhood is quiet and residential. It's an easy walk to the Silver Lake area of Rehoboth, and a good walker could even walk into downtown Rehoboth. Although the house is west of Route 1, it's only a block and a half from the beach. The beach is clean, guarded (10 am - 5 pm), and has facilities for renting umbrellas. There is modest food available. The beach is nicer than Rehoboth, with a more gradual incline to the ocean and calmer surf. There are several casual restaurants in Dewey, including the Starboard, the Waterfront (which has outdoor dining with a killer view of the bay). Ed's is a good roadside seafood joint. Two Seas offers excellent but pricey meals--its main draw is rooftop dining with both ocean and bay views. There's no boardwalk in Dewey; for that you have to go into Rehoboth. Renting from Phyllis was a pleasure. She answered our emails promptly and was easy to reach by cell phone. She provides very detailed information about how to find the house, what to expect, and what to bring. If you demand one of those palatial homes in Bethany with ensuite baths in every room, an elevator, and a jacuzzi, this isn't for you. But if you want a pleasant beach house in a nice neighborhood, it's great! |
