Welcome to Sugar Mountain Escape!
Sugar Mountain Escape is an adorable two (2) bedroom mountain chalet located near the top Sugar Mountain. It's only minutes from the slopes at Sugar Mtn Ski Resort and close to downtown Banner Elk.
You can either walk to the slopes or you can take advantage of the convenience and 'virtual' slope side service provided by the Sugar Ski Resort Shuttle. The Sugar Mountain Ski Resort Shuttle will pick you up from the property and drop you at the slopes for the ski season. It will then return you to Sugar Mountain Escape whenever you wish. You can choose to walk to the slopes, shuttle there, and then walk back. Or you can take the shuttle both directions. SUGAR MOUNTAIN SHUTTLE INFO AND ROUTES >>>
Sugar Mountain Escape offers unobstructed views of the mountains all year round. The main-level master suite features a King-size bed, an HD SmartTV, and glass sliding doors that lead to a quiet back deck. The ensuite master bathroom has a large step in shower.
Air conditioning is rarely required at an altitude of nearly 5000 feet. A few portable air conditioners can cool a large area or room. The three portable units are the only air conditioners in the house. The owner is considering a whole-house system that could be installed by 2021. However, plans are still tentative.
The main floor features an open-concept, vaulted living room with exposed beams and vaulted ceilings. There is also a wood-burning fire place and HD Smart TV. The living room is adjacent the kitchen which has granite countertops and stainless appliances. It also has a center-island with a live edge wood slab top. The dining area can accommodate up to eight (8) people. The den, located off the living area, is a second space on the main floor to relax and entertain. The large windows allow for natural light to enter and provide a mountain view. The den features a HD Smart TV, as well as ample comfortable furniture. On the main floor, there is a sleeper couch that can accommodate two (2) additional guests. On the main floor, there is also a hallway bathroom.
The open loft upstairs has a cozy table with chairs and a table for games and puzzles. Two (2) guests can sleep in the loft on a twin daybed and twin trundle. The upstairs bathroom has a bathtub/shower combination. The open loft area leads to a queen-sized bedroom with vaulted, vaulted ceilings and an HDTV with Smart BluRay player. This allows you to watch DVDs and BluRay discs and access all your cable programming, as well as Netflix, and other Smart TV options.
The front porch on the main level is a shady, peaceful place to enjoy nature. The main-level back deck offers mountain views, and the mature trees that roll down from the house's back are visible. You will find a grill here. The hot tub is located on a lower-level platform deck. Sugar Mountain Escape allows dogs only. There is a strict weight limit of 45 pounds per dog. Standard pet fees apply.
Sugar Mountain Escape is located on Sugar Mountain near its top. It is a short walk (less that 1/2 mile) or drive (less 3 miles to reach the main parking area) from the Sugar Mountain Ski Resort. Beech Mountain Ski Resort, Hawksnest Snow Tubing & Zip Lines are both within ten (10) mile distance. Appalachian Ski Mountain lies about nineteen (19 miles) away. Grandfather Mountain, Linville Gorge and Falls, and Caverns, are all less than 20 miles away. Tweetsie Railroad is around nineteen (19) mile away and Watauga lake is approximately thirty (30). Appalachian State University lies approximately sixteen (16) miles from Lees McRae College. Sugar Mountain Escape is located between Boone, North Carolina and Banner Elk. Boone is approximately fourteen (14) miles from Banner Elk. Blowing Rock is less that sixteen (16) miles from Valle Crucis. Sugar Mountain Escape, located at the top of Sugar Mountain is conveniently located to all the High Country has to offer!

*Currently, there are several portable floor units in the house to help cool down on those unusually hot days. The house is located at a height of 5000 feet, so the temperature rarely rises above 76 degrees. However, we have some air conditioning units installed. The owner is considering upgrading to a full-house air conditioning system by 2021. However, this is still a tentative plan.
*The garage is locked and only accessible by the owner.
*The Sugar Mountain Escape driveway is a gravel, downhill driveway. There is plenty of parking. If you don't have a vehicle with 4WD or All-Wheel Drive, we recommend parking your vehicle at the top of driveway. It is difficult to exit the gravel driveway from the bottom due to the grade and the gravel. If you drive a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, we recommend you pull in facing down and park it at the top of the driveway. If you have a vehicle with front-wheel drive, we suggest you pull in facing downwards but keep it towards the top of your driveway.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
You can cancel your booking within 24 hours and receive a refund in full. If you cancel your booking more than 30 days prior to arrival, you'll receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 30 days of the arrival date will not be refunded. If you have purchased travel insurance, and the reason of the cancellation is covered by the policy, you can recover the full amount.

From there, take Highway 194 North and turn left onto Sugar Mountain Drive.
