Property Description

Heavenly rendezvous for family, friends, and associates. Cozy, large (~2000 sq ft), all-wood cabin has open floor plan with three private bedrooms, futon, and spacious enclosed gear/mud room. Electric, wood-stove heat. On 60 mostly wooded acres, bordered by vacant land and Shoshone National Forest. End of road, partly fenced, no neighbors. Wildflowers riot spring to summer. Dozen miles'drive to artsy, historic Dubois, a mile from government-maintained road, three miles from upscale Western-style restaurants.

Cabin nestles in upper SW corner of large meadow gently sloping down toward north. Cabin meets forest on two sides. Elevation 8500 ft (2600m). Cabin and meadow offer spiritual, panoramic views of Dunoir Valley, Ramshorn, Absarokas, and Painted Hills. Abundant and diverse wildlife, including large and small, furry or feathered. Sap-scented summer breeze keeps site cool/warm comfy night/day, and practically bug-free. Trails all over for hiking, horses, ATV, or to amble around the woods. Nearby streams and lakes for fishing; camping, outdoor sightseeing of all kinds.

Take a day drive to Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks (50 miles to Moran Junction), or to Jackson's swank shops and eateries. Or forget all that and hit the hammock! Fall hunting access, winter snowmobiling with world-class network of maintained trails, National Forest roads to cruise. Snowshoeing, trekking, or toe-toasting near the woodstove.

Cabin was built by a multi-millionaire who owned the mountainside and picked the best spot! Stunning! We enjoyed the beauty of the Shoshone and Wind River. Love the company of the real people in Dubois. We have stayed in a couple of places in Dubois, and the Shangri-La provided excellent comfort, beautiful views, and beyond exceptional help/advise from the owner and agent. Suggest walking all four corners of the property. The view of the badlands is my favorite...

What a wonderful place to spend a few relaxing days! Some of our party's comments included:
"It just doesn't get any better than this"

"This is heaven on Earth"

"What a peaceful way to start the day"

Even the drive to/from Yellowstone was a scenic pleasure. Thanks so much. Hopefully we can make it up to Wyoming again, where we would definitely stay at the 'Mountain Shangri La' again!

The views literally took my breath away. The front of the cabin contains a large, continuous window that maximizes the view from the living room. The cabin was very comfortable and convenient for day trips. We enjoyed lots of walking trails near the cabin. We plan on returning again.

I didn't actually stay here but I checked it out in detail. Frank was great to work with. He went above and beyond the call to make sure I had the information I was looking for. In the end it was the price of gas that made me look for something closer to home. If gas ever becomes afordable again I'll certainly book a stay just based on the customer service received. Thanks!
