Property Description

If you're looking for a stunning four-bedroom, three-bath vacation retreat with its own private pool, you've found it at Island Style. Located in Truman Annex, Key West's signature gated community, this home has it all: 2,000 square feet in a compact two-story format, porches and balconies, deck and pool, a delightful décor with pops of tropical color, inside and outside dining, oodles of upscale amenities like a thermoelectric wine cooler, botanical abundance, designated covered parking-in other words, a relaxed kind of luxury that any vacationer couldn't help but appreciate. And amazingly all this beauty and seclusion is just blocks off Duval, the island's historic main street with walking access to art, beaches, shopping, and restaurants.

Emma Street, near the water's edge, hosts a gracious neighborhood lined with trees and classic homes. Approaching Island Style from a wide sidewalk, you enter through a white picket fence and up a few stairs onto the covered porch with the 2nd story balcony above. The outside color scheme is white with black shutters and lush landscaping in the form of verdant palm and yellow allamanda flowers. Inside the front door, the first floor "wow" hits. There are plenty of windows, French doors, white oak floors, ceiling spot lights, and ceiling fans. Above the dining table that seats six plus is a one-of-a-kind artisan chandelier in striking seaglass colors and shapes. The open floor plan means the view continues right through the kitchen and rear French doors out onto the back lanai and sparkling pool area beyond. Of course, there's central air, high-speed Wi-Fi, and cable for the five TVs.

To the left of the dining area, behind a pocket door, is the first of four bedrooms. The queen bed is its centerpiece with a colorful duvet and harmonizing throw pillows. Side tables with lamps are decorative and functional. Tropic-themed art hangs on the walls, and the white oak flooring shares the space with a soft-to-the-touch floor rug. A flat-screen TV is strategically place above a five-drawer dresser that's perfect for myriad folded items, while a deep closet to the left stands ready for hanging items.

Next comes the kitchen and, across from it, a recessed area featuring a full bath and roomy utility closet. Everything in the custom-designed kitchen is top of the line--from the SubZero refrigerator and matching freezer with a coffee bar between, to the built-in wine cooler, the two Wolf ovens to the Wolf glass cook-top stove with microwave built in right above. Rich wood cabinets mean there's plenty of space to put things out of sight. The top cabinets are lighted for a very warm and contemporary touch. The curved island counter creates even more space and contains the sink with dishwasher and more cabinets below.

A large living room area designed for comfort and face-to-face social time comes next. A leather overstuffed chair with reading lamp occupies one corner under a painting of two island pelicans. Two French doors leading to the outside create a wall of glass backdrop to the couch and chairs grouped around a coffee table and woven Turkish area rug. On the opposite wall, perfectly located for viewing from the couch or chairs, is another flat-screen TV with an artisan cabinet right below. Here and elsewhere are folding bamboo window covers for those times when you want to keep the light out.

The outside oasis, which allows you to enjoy Key West's amazing weather in total privacy, is the crowning touch to the property. Through the French doors you can access a covered lanai where you can sit rain or shine to eat at the teak dining table or in one of the reading chairs with ottomans. Maybe consider barbequing something on the gas grill to enjoy here. Down two steps begins a lovely expanse of terra cotta tiles that designate the pool deck and sunning area. Four chaise loungers stand waiting for the comfort of sun worshipers. And the temperature-controlled square pool with its cool water reflects the blue of a cloudless island sky. The landscape architecture and landscape lighting create a setting worthy of the finest home design magazine. A locked gait opens to a covered private parking space.

Up a staircase at one end of the living room is access to the second floor with three more bedrooms, two full baths, a washer and dryer closet, and plenty of closet space. Replacing the hardwood floors of the first floor is a nubby oatmeal wall to wall that's a delight to walk on in bare feet. The two bedrooms at the top of the stairs open onto a wide balcony stretching across the whole front of the house and overlooking Emma street. One has a queen bed and the other has two twins. A full bath is accessible to both rooms. Down the hall is the washer and dryer closet with shelves and plenty of space for laundry baskets and supplies. Then comes the amazing master bedroom with king bed, en-suite full bath, and oodles of space. This room opens delightfully to the back balcony overlooking the garden pool and deck. A hammock is suspended here in case you're in mind of an outdoors yet shaded and quiet siesta.

Awesome rental property. Beautifully appointed and located perfectly for our needs. Will definitely consider this property for our once a year rental. Only area for improvement is that there were 4 couples in the house and only 5 pool towels. Check In/Out could be better facilitated with a key lock box to eliminate an extra stop at the office.

Pool was smaller than anticipated (from pictures) and didnt appear to be clean. Upstairs shared bath shower drain was slow to empty.
