Lone Peak and the Kircliff Scenic Overlook

Lone Peak in Big Sky Montana

Highest Scenic Overlook in Montana

Panoramic Mountain Views

On a clear day, witness over 10 majestic mountain ranges stretching endlessly across the Montana horizon. From this unparalleled vantage point, the Rockies unfold in every direction, offering a breathtaking view that few ever experience.

Glass Floor Experience

Step onto the glass floor of this alpine engineering marvel and gaze straight down the dramatic fall line of Lone Peak. Feel the thrill of standing above it all where sky meets stone and every heartbeat echoes the mountains’ power.

Walk-Up Access for Everyone

For the first time ever, any guest for any age, on foot or on skis you can reach the summit of Lone Peak and take in these extraordinary views. With walk-up access via the Explorer Gondola and Lone Peak Tram, the high alpine world is open to all.

Experience the Edge of Possibility

The Kircliff Scenic Overlook redefines mountain adventure, combining innovative design with pure natural wonder. Whether you’re soaking in the stillness or capturing panoramic photos, every moment at 11,166 feet is unforgettable.

Kircliff, perched at an awe-inspiring 11,166 feet, is a two-story glass observation deck that extends over terrain shaped by millions of years. Here, the world unfolds around you. The horizon stretches endlessly, mountain peaks rise in every direction, and the sky seems close enough to touch. Kircliff invites you to pause to savor the rare stillness, perspective, and awe that will linger long after you descend the mountain.

Embark on the Explorer Gondola

The adventure begins with the Explorer Gondola, the world’s fastest 10-person gondola. Featuring heated seats and panoramic windows, the ride takes you over a mile into the mountain, climbing to 9,000 feet. As you ascend, watch the alpine landscape transform below, leading to the heart of Lone Peak known simply as The Bowl.

Rise Above the Clouds on the Lone Peak Tram

Continue your journey on the Lone Peak Tram, an iconic Big Sky experience. Traveling more than 2,000 vertical feet in just four minutes, the glass-enclosed tram offers a thrilling perspective of the mountain. Watch as skiers carve through the Bowl and the Powder Seeker lift glides beneath you while you soar at over 20 miles per hour toward the summit.

Take It All In from Kircliff

At the top, Kircliff reveals itself as Montana’s highest scenic overlook. From this breathtaking vantage point, take in views of more than ten mountain ranges, two national parks, and three states. Step onto the glass floor and gaze straight down into the heart of the Rockies for an unforgettable encounter with nature’s raw power and beauty.

Kircliff redefines what it means to experience Montana’s high country. It is not merely a viewpoint it is a feeling, a moment suspended between earth and sky, where adventure meets serenity.
