2 Day Itinerary for Peninsula State Park

Day 1

Start at Eagle Tower
Arrive early to beat the crowds and climb (or roll up the ramp) to the top. The sunrise or morning light over Green Bay is breathtaking.

Eagle Trail Hike (2 miles)
Just below Eagle Tower, this rugged trail along the Niagara Escarpment showcases dramatic limestone cliffs, caves, and shoreline. (Wear sturdy shoes because it’s rocky and uneven.)

Picnic at Nicolet Bay
Relax with lunch by the sandy beach. There’s a concession stand if you didn’t pack food.
Optional: Rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the bay’s calm waters.

Eagle Bluff Lighthouse Tour
Step into the life of 19th-century lighthouse keepers and hear stories about shipwrecks and Lake Michigan navigation.

Shore Road Scenic Drive
Stop at pull-offs for postcard views of Green Bay and the islands.

Fish Creek Dinner
Exit the park for dinner (try Wild Tomato for pizza or White Gull Inn for classic Door County fare).

Northern Sky Theater
Return to the park for an outdoor musical under the stars. It’s family-friendly, funny, and a Door County tradition.

Day 2

Bike the Sunset Trail (9.6 miles)
Rent a bike or bring your own. This mostly flat loop passes through forests, wetlands, shoreline, and campgrounds ... a perfect way to see the park’s diversity. Shorter Option: Walk part of the trail if you’re not up for biking.

Lunch in Ephraim
Just outside the park, stop for a bite (Wilson’s Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor is a classic).

Beach Time at Nicolet Bay
Swim, sunbathe, or just rest your legs on the sandy shore.

Nature Walk on Sentinel Trail (2 miles)
A quieter loop through forest and meadows, great for birdwatching and spotting wildlife.

Peninsula State Park Golf Course (if you’re a golfer)
Scenic 18-hole course with blufftop views.

Sunset at Tennison Bay or Skyline Road
The park is famous for its sunsets over Green Bay. Pack a blanket and enjoy the view.  If you’re camping, finish the night with a fire under the stars.
