Sister Bay Travel Guide in Door County Wisconsin | Things to Do, Places to Eat, and Where to Stay

Things to do in Sister Bay Wisconsin

Sister Bay Wisconsin

If Door County had a “summer capital,” it might just be Sister Bay. Located on the Green Bay side of the peninsula, this town combines a bustling downtown, a beautiful marina and beach, and plenty of restaurants and many with outdoor patios and live music.

Why Sisiter Bay is a favorite? It’s a great spot to spend the day, but also a fun place to stay overnight if you like being right in the middle of the action. It has the biggest public waterfront in Door County with nearly 2,000 feet of shoreline, with a beach, park, marina, and green space all right downtown. Sisiter Bay has a lively dining scene from casual fish boils to upscale waterfront dining. Sister Bay has a walkable downtown so once you park, you can shop, eat, and stroll without moving your car.

Getting There & Around

Sister Bay is about a 30-minute drive north of Sturgeon Bay along Hwy 42. In summer, parking can be tight downtown so arrive early or be prepared to park a block or two away.

Final Thoughts

Sister Bay is the epicenter of Door County’s summer energy—where you can shop in the morning, swim in the afternoon, and sip a cocktail while the sun sets over the marina. It’s lively, scenic, and packed with personality, yet still has that laid-back Door County friendliness.

If you want, I can put together a side-by-side Sturgeon Bay vs. Sister Bay guide so you can compare which is better for staying overnight versus just visiting. That might help with trip planning.
