Things To Do in Door County Wisconsin

Peninsula State Park (Fish Creek)

The crown jewel of Door County’s natural attractions. Bike the 9-mile Sunset Trail, climb Eagle Tower for panoramic views of the bay, or rent a kayak and paddle along the shoreline. The park also offers some of the best camping in the region.

Peninsula State Park opens through the Sunset Trail, a gravel trail at the Fish Creek entrance that weaves through the western and the northern sides of the park. Washington Island

Getting There & Around

From Green Bay, Sturgeon Bay is about a 45-minute drive north on Hwy 42/57. Parking is easy, and the city is walkable in the downtown/waterfront area, but you’ll want a car for exploring beyond.

Book early for summer and fall, especially weekends. Bring layers because the lake breezes can cool things off fast, even in July. Cell service can be spotty in some areas so download maps offline just in case. Drive slowly the deer are active, and you’ll want to enjoy the views anyway. Consider taking the ferry to Washington Island and rent a moped or bike once you’re there.
