This lovely, well appointed home is near Captain Cook and features a a secluded back yard to enjoy the true beauty of the tropics. The living accommodations upstairs features the living room with a sofa sleeper for additional sleeping, full kitchen and master bedroom includes a sitting area and access to the lanai to enjoy the beautiful tropical sunsets. There is a complete living quarters downstairs with refrigerator, small kitchen, microwave and offers a 25" TV, plus DVD/VCR for family entertainment. The home is family friendly, and has 2 master suites. There are 3 bedrooms downstairs. The home will accommodate up to twelve guests. This home is located right in the area where Captain Cook first landed on the Big Island. Visit the Captain Cook Monument. At the far northern end of Kealakekua Bay. A small bronze plaque marks the exact spot where Captain James Cook died. Fifty yards to the left, is a 27 foot white marble obelisk, erected in his memory in 1874 by some of his fellow countrymen. Kailua-Kona is just 35 minutes north. Come visit the shopping squares, hideaway shops and the open air cafes. Lono's (the Hawaiian fertility god) private sacred bay, Kealakekua (kay-allah-kay-koo-ah) abounds with culture, history, and grandeur and is an important part of the Big Island and Hawaiian heritage. The bay has been designated as an underwater park and marine life conservation district by the State of Hawaii. During your stay, be sure to visit one of the most accessible and enchanting cultural sites in Hawaii.
Located in South Kona is the Pu'uhonua 'O Honaunau National Park. Translated, the "place of refuge at Honaunau" is the most complete restoration of an ancient religious sanctuary in Hawaii. Refuge for vanquished warriors and kapu (taboo) breakers was guaranteed to all who reached this compound.
