Property Information
Resting atop a flat expanse of volcanic rock rising nearly 1000 feet above
sea level, Orvieto seems to float above the soft landscape of Umbria. Life
in one of Italy’s most beautiful and best loved cities is truly wonderful.
Being in the center of Orvieto, you are cradled by architecture, art and
history. Within this tastefully restored ancient townhouse, a vaulted brick
entryway greets you, beamed ceilings shelter you and an old Etruscan
arch, made of golden colored tufa, just blows you away.
The décor is comfortable and welcoming, as is a small furnished terrace
off the kitchen surrounded by flowering plants. Inside, windows are
screened, and both bedrooms are air conditioned. While technically we
list this home as having one and a half bathrooms, there is an additional
shower in the utility room. Firewood is included in the price. Maid service
and meals may be arranged when booking. Smoking and children under
the age of 12 are not allowed.
Living in a medieval center calls for lots of walking, mostly on
cobblestone lanes. Anima Nobile is in a pedestrian area, and luggage may
be dropped off within 50 yards of the entrance. The closest parking is
100 yards away. A bus stop 200 yards away leads to Piazza Cahen, where
the funicular can whisk you down to the train station with service to
Florence or Rome.
Shops and restaurants are all nearby. Within 300 yards or less are the
Duomo, the Archaeological Museum and the
Underground Caves, a labyrinth of over 1200 ancient, manmade caves.
For one of the best views of Umbria, climb atop the Torre del Moro.
Finally, due to the volcanic soil, the area’s white wine is of the highest
quality.

Not to be missed: For one of the best views looking out over Umbria,
climb to the top of Torre del Moro, 200 yards away
Public transportation: Within 200 yards is a bus stop with service to
Piazza Cahen (800 yards away) where the funicular can be taken to the
Orvieto Scalo train station with direct service to Florence or Rome. Buses
also service Todi, Bolsena, Narni, Terni, Amelia, Civitella del Lago and
Rome.
Within walking distance: The Duomo, Archaeological Museum and Parco
delle Grotte, with over 1200 manmade caves are all within 250 yards.
Swimming pool: In Allerona, a 15 minute drive and is open June -
September.
Tennis: The owner is able to arrange for clients to play tennis at the
private tennis club of Palazzo Mercedari, which is located 600 yards from
the apartment.
