Over 20,000 runners are expected to make the 26.2-mile run to Copley Square, Boston. More than 500,000 spectators lined the 26.2-mile course, making the Boston Marathon New England’s most widely viewed sporting event. The Boston Athletic Association has managed this event. The runners are both amateur and professional runners from all over the world pushing themselves both physically and mentally through the hilly Boston area whether rain or shine.
