In 1882 Buffalo Bill was asked if he would be willing to put on a show for the city's Fourth of July celebration. The residents of North Platte were thrilled when he agreed- His exhibition celebrated the Wild West, and showcased the horsemanship and roping skills of area cowboys. It was here and then that Wild Bill turned America's fascination with the Wild West into a business. The Rodeo was born. For over 40 years this has been Nebraska's biggest celebration! Complete with many parades, classic car shows and art shows, a carnival, and the famous Buffalo Bill Rodeo. Enjoy the cultures and many celebrations of this All- American event.
