This condo within the Bear Lodge at Trappeur's Crossing Resort has an exceptional location in the heart of the Mountain Village, top quality finishes and furniture throughout, plus the best set of on site amenities and services around. You'll have a short, flat, easy walk to gondola square, the ski school, the ticket office, as well as various shops, bars, & restaurants. This location is exactly where you want to be, whether visiting in winter or summer! You don't have to walk anywhere, though, since during ski season there is a free private shuttle available to whisk you to and from anywhere in town. No other development has the set of amenities you'll find here. There's not one pool, but 4 of them, and one is an indoor / outdoor pool. There's not one hot tub, but 10, both indoor and out. There's a game room, catered weekly parties, an on site day spa, concierge, and so much more. The condo itself has the highest quality furnishings, materials, and other finishing touches including HDTVs in every room, built in surround sound, solid hickory hardwood floors, granite & marble counters, slate & travertine tile, leather furniture, the list goes on. Lets start with the location. Trappeur's Crossing is a short, easy, and flat walk from the heart of the ski area base, Gondola Square. Bear Lodge is the closest of the Trappeur's buildings to Gondola Square. If you walk about 100 yards, you'll have come to the intersection of Apres Ski Way and Village Drive. Here you'll find a small grocery, deli, restaurant, liquor and wine store called The Wild Plum. You'll also find a coffee and breakfast place, a dinner restaurant, a ski rental shop, and a Bavarian style beer hall with over 50 brews on tap and great happy hour or "Apres Ski" specials. Cross the street and walk another 100 yards and you'll be at the edge of the slopes in Gondola Square. That's right, you only walk about 200 yards from this condo to the slopes and the center of our base area! Besides the slopes, the kids vacation center, or ski school, is the first thing you will see. It is very easy to drop off your kids and head back to the condo or up onto the slopes, as well as when you're picking them up to head home. In fact, only crossing one intersection with a 4 way stop and cross walks, many kids can head home without assistance. The Gondola, the Christie Peak Express lift, and the ticket office are right here too. So are many restaurants and bars, free concerts, special events, and activities galore, including the new "Outlaw" mountain roller coaster that is open in ski season as well as summer. Remember this, though, If you don't feel like walking, all you have to do is call the front desk for the free private shuttle that runs all ski season. They'll take you to and from anywhere in town! In summer, the base area is even more kid friendly than it is during ski season. When all the snow melts, Burgess Creek flows through the area, but the water level is controlled to be at a flow level that is ideal for kids to splash around. There are even a couple of "beaches" along the creek. There are also tons of activities. There's a mini golf course, a high ropes course, a 4 story rock climbing wall, summer tubing, and other attractions. There are many restaurants and bars, as well as a large stage. This area plays host to movie nights, free concerts, art shows, hot air balloon glows, and more. Don't forget, the ski area sits on national forest. So your condo is literally right next to a national forest trailhead. You can hike or bike from your door! You can also ride up the Gondola for food, beverages, amazing views, sunsets, or to hike and bike around to the highest parts of the ski area with a 2000 vertical foot head start! This area is also connected to other trails too. The Mountain Sneak trail, Mt. Werner trail, and Burgess Creek trail all converge within 100 yards of The Bear Lodge. These paved trails are perfect for walking, strolling, and they connect with the Yampa River Core Trail, which leads to downtown Steamboat, the Emerald Mountain trail system, and beyond. The whole town is right out your door. Okay, so the location is great! So is the condo itself!
The Bear Lodge was built in 2008, pretty recent compared to most other Steamboat Springs developments, which means that you have some features that are not present in other places. One of those features is Air Conditioning. Though you might not need AC much of the year, this feature can be very handy on the hottest of summer afternoons. Another such feature is ease of access. There are zero stairs required to access this condo, which once inside, is also laid out all on a single level, so if you're elderly or have impaired mobility, or just tired from skiing until your legs are wobbly, this is an important feature. The entire building and much of the development was laid out with the ADA in mind. Also, being a recent development, the layout of the unit and size of the rooms is spacious and comfortable. When you enter, you'll find a sweeping open space that combines the living room with the dining room and kitchen. Immediately to your right is a smart entry feature that includes a built in bench with coat racks and storage cubbies above, and room for ski boots and shoes below. There is also a coat closet for clearing some of the clutter or for larger groups. Upon entering, you'll find a large kitchen to your left and dining area to your right. The dining area has a lovely chandelier that provides the perfect ambiance for a formal meal as well as for games or puzzles. The table seats 8 comfortably and has leaves that allow smaller groups to size it down for more floor space while allowing larger groups to gather together all at once. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances, solid granite slab counters, and beautiful cabinetry. There is a raised bar with seating for 4 so you can serve up your crew diner style or just keep your chef company. The kitchen is more than fully equipped. Lovely setsof dishware provide service for 16, a good bit more than the occupancy of the property or the dishwasher, so it would be had to run out of anything. Glasses and silverware are ample too. All the standard appliances are present, including a gas range, but there's more than meets the eye in this kitchen. You'll have a blender for smoothies or margaritas and a crock pot for roasts, chili, or stews. High quality cookware is present and under cabinet lighting is great for a bit of extra light day or night. Whatever the season, you'll appreciate the little extras in this kitchen. Over in the living room, the thoughtfulness of the owners continues. So many rental condos might sleep 10 but only have living room seating for 6. Not here! This living room is so large that 3 full size sofas and a large armchair fit without even feeling cramped. You can seat 10 in comfort and make some really great memories. One of these sofas is a Queen sleeper sofa, which gives larger groups some bedding flexibility. The ample seating is arranged to allow everyone to come together while also having a nice view of the beautiful 2 sided fireplace and large HDTV. Being open to the kitchen and dining area, the living room is a great space for you to enjoy. Off the living room is a very large deck. Many rental properties have little tiny outdoor areas or balconies. This condo has a deck that is really quite large. It accommodates a nice large outdoor dining table as well as a gas grill with room to spare, and provides nice views of one of the pool and hot tub ares as well as the ski mountain.
Moving back inside, the bedrooms are on either side of the main space. All 3 bedrooms are technically master bedrooms, with dedicated attached bathrooms. That said, one bedroom is a primary master, and is certainly a treat. The California King bed has a large custom log frame that screams western mountain resort. The side tables next to the bed are tree trunk and root tables, very cool. Large furniture and beds only fit into a large room, yet this room still has space for a dresser and an armchair with ottoman. There's a wall mounted HDTV directly in front of the bed, plus from the bed you can stare up at the ski area. The master bathroom is quite large as well. The vanity has solid marble counters with dual undermounted sinks and plenty of counter space in between them. There is a modern style of Jacuzzi tub that is large enough for two, plus an oversized glass enclosed shower. This bathroom will not disappoint! On the other side of the living area are the other two bedrooms and bathrooms. The next master suite has a King bed too. This room exchanges a very large bathroom and small closet for a normal sized bathroom and a walk in closet. The bathroom is still a nice size, with a single sink and a good amount of counter space on either side, and a slate tiled glass door enclosed shower / tub combo that is more than okay. This bedroom also has an HDTV that is perfectly placed for watching from bed. The 3rd and final bedroom has 4 beds. Three of the four beds are Twins, and the fourth bed is a double. So this room could work for one couple, or up to 5 kids or singles, whatever works for your group! The attached bathroom makes this room something of a master suite in its own right, but the bathroom is also accessible from the hallway, so it is ideal for entertaining guests or for use without disturbing the privacy of someone in the bedroom. This condo has a few other features to enjoy. There is a front loading high efficiency washer & dryer in the unit, so you can pack lightly if you like. There is a dedicated indoor ski locker where the snow will melt off your skis and drain right out of the building. The underground parking is really nice in both cold winter days and hot summer ones. Of course there is free wifi throughout the condo and the lobby areas so you can work or enjoy digital media to your heart's content. Just promise us you won't work much!
Okay lets talk about the development. It really is one of the best places in all of Steamboat Springs, and the Bear Lodge is the newest and final phase, so it is the best of the best! Every amenity you could want is onsite, including a free private shuttle in ski season, year round pools and hot tubs, tennis courts, a fitness center, sauna, and a game room with ping pong and foos ball tables. The clubhouse has locker rooms plus an on site day spa, an "at your service" concierge and front desk, very attentive and friendly staff all over. Trappeur's Crossing even has weekly or bi-weekly "socials" at the clubhouse, which are catered with complimentary food, wine, & beer. Even if you miss the social events, you'll find coffee, tea, little treats, and newspapers in the clubhouse all the time. I mentioned there were 4 pools. They are spread out, which is great. If there are rambunctious kids at one, and you want some peace and quiet, there are 3 more to choose from. One of the pools is an indoor / outdoor pool, which means that on those cold winter days, you can enter the pool inside, away from the wind. Kids love swimming in and out of this area too. When you're getting out of the hot tubs, what could be better than a warm towel. Well, you'll have a heated towel waiting for you at each of the 4 pool here. Comfy furniture surround each of them, and restrooms too. Not many details have been missed here. The condo has a grill, but so do the pool areas. You can BBQ and then relax in the sun, then cool off once your meal has settled. If you want to play some tennis, this is a spectacular setting for it. You might miss a few shots because you're gazing at the surrounding mountains! The game room is ideal for giving kids some extra space to enjoy, and the day spa is perfect for those taking a day off to relax instead of exploring and being super active all vacation.
