Property Information
Flower Hill offers a 1790 restored farmhouse with an attached artist/
writer studio and barn (flower arranging studio). The buildings are
surrounded by rambling organic gardens, marvelous sky and
landscapes, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing on a twenty-
acre hillside (ten acres are in wildlife conservation) six miles west of
Northampton, Massachusetts.
We have three private, spacious, charming and imaginative guest
Suites/Apartments/Studio.
We ask our guests to honor the Japanese custom of not wearing
shoes inside.
The second-floor suite/apartment includes a bright bedroom with a
queen-sized bed, private bath, small sitting room, studio with single
sofa bed, kitchen, dining nook and a balcony. Every window offers
great views. There are two chairs at the top of the stairs so that you
may comfortably remove shoes.
Our equally private downstairs suite is the heart of the farmhouse. It
has a queen-sized bed, fireplace, bath, hardwood floors, sitting area
with a large fireplace and an eastern wall of windows and door,
allowing great views of the sky, gardens and lush hills. A private
outdoor seating area is just steps out the door. A kitchen is soon to
be completely private. Upon entering the downstairs private
entrance, there are chairs to sit and comfortably remove shoes.
The romantic artist/writer studio has high ceilings, beautiful hard
wood floors, large glass doors looking out on views and patio
garden, a full bed, claw foot tub, W.C., antique table, chairs and
kitchenette. Flowers are not included as shown in picture if you
would like a flower extravaganza please give plenty of notice.
Separately or together, the three suites make for an ideal getaway
for those seeking privacy and quiet in a charming, eco-friendly
country atmosphere. Family reunions are welcome. Writers, artists or
others in search of a comfortable, inspiring retreat are welcome for
independent extended stays.
We do not use pesticides or any chemical fertilizers at Flower Hill
Farm.
Outside the walls of the old farmhouse and studio nature abounds
with wonders. There are no pets here, but many songbirds, grouse,
wild turkey and woodcock live in our gardens and forest. Guests
enjoy breathtaking views -- sunrise, moonrise and stargazing too!
Woodland and garden paths along with a country road offer inspiring
walks. Hundreds of varieties of plants, shrubs, ornamental and fruit
trees add to your outdoor experience throughout the seasons.
The village of Williamsburg is just down the hill about two miles. For
dining, the Mill River Tavern at the Williams House in the center of
our village offers classic and contemporary New England-style
seafood. Just down the street browse in the village's eclectic country
store.
A collection of puzzles, books and magazines are available. All of
our rooms have original art with an ongoing art show, which is a
fundraiser for American Friends Service Committee. Let us know if
you need anything to make your stay more comfortable or enjoyable.
