Waipio Valley is a scenic wonder of the Big Island of Hawaii. Enjoy your vacation in this gated, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, luxury home, located on a lush green cliff, above the historic valley, on the Hamakua Coast. Our fully equipped rental includes a full kitchen, living room, queen size bed in the master, walk in shower with coastline views, full futon in the second bedroom, two twin beds in the third bedroom and full size sofa sleeper, in the enclosed portion of the lanai. Majestic views of the Waipio Valley, home of Hawaiian kings, verdant bluffs with seasonal waterfalls, cascading down mountainous cliffs, spectacular Pacific Ocean views with a panorama that includes Maui, all which can be taken in through the large windows, expansive sliders and lanai. Enjoy watching the whales from the lanai December through February. Because the house is located near a stunning cliff, which affords the incredible views, families with young children need to be advised to keep them away from the edge.
We are only 150 yards from the road leading into Waipio Valley, or a 30-minute walk or 10 minute drive down to the valley's black sand beach, winding river, and waterfalls, the perfect location for an afternoon swim, hike, picnic or to just relax in the valley and experience rural old Hawaii. The quaint village of Kukuihaele is just a short scenic stroll away from the house. Here you can find a small grocery store, gift stores, and the local post office. Fifteen minutes down the road is Honokaa, the charming old plantation town where time has stood still, with its shops, local arts and crafts, restaurants, and historic cinema. The towns of Waimea and Hilo are both less than an hours drive away, offering an even greater selection of fine shopping, dining and entertainment.
