Nestled within the Ancient Trees of the Oregon Cascade Mountain Range, along the banks of The North Fork of the Santiam River, lies the secluded Elkhorn Valley.
Located 35 miles East of Salem, The Cranberry House is situated on 40 acres of river front property adjacent to the Elkhorn Valley Golf Course.
Within minutes you’ll find yourself in the lush forests and crystalline waters of the Opal Creek Wilderness Area. Recreational activities are in abundance or simply just relax in the yard, and enjoy the view and wildlife in the comfort of your very own mountain retreat.
The Cranberry House was originally a turn of the century school house for the children of early homesteaders and loggers in the Elkhorn Valley. In 1972 the house was purchased by the Atiyeh Family and remodeled, adding rooms to accommodate the growing family. The house was again remodeled and restored in 2006 to make it into the delightful vacation home that it is today.

The Opal Creek Wilderness and Scenic Recreation Area total 35,000 acres of low elevation Ancient Forest. Opal Creek is the largest uncut watershed in Western Oregon. Through these forests, the river falls 1,200 feet from one crystalline pool to another, meandering along centuries old Douglas Fir and Hemlock that fill the valley. Many of these trees are as large as 10 feet in diameter and 200 feet tall. Audubon Magazine’s 100th Anniversary edition named Opal Creek one of the top 10 gems preserved over the last century in the United States.
