Property Information
This is a part of Oregon rarely seen. The state of Oregon - known for its lush forests, rugged mountains and crystal clear waters is also home to a magnificent high desert landscape. Nestled beneath the dramatic, often snow-topped crags of Winter Ridge, lies a sun-filled paradise: 145 acres of unique wilderness, geothermically blessed with hot mineral springs bubbling out of the ground at 113 degrees. This paradise, Summer Lake Hot Springs, is only 2 ˝ hours southeast of Bend or northeast of Klamath Falls, and is one of Oregon's best kept secrets.

As you make your way to Summer Lake Hot Springs you will be treated to expansive vistas, ever changing sky and a lush desert environment which is home to over 220 species of birds and countless other examples of wildlife. It is not uncommon to spy a herd of big horn sheep grazing on the ridges or hear the lonely sound of a family of coyotes, mornings and evenings.

Property Activities
The charm of the historic "cowboy bathhouse" is truly refreshing - like stepping back in time.  Constructed in 1927 (and still original today), the "bathhouse" was used locally for bathing, shaving, and laundry, and of course, to "cure whatever ails ya."  Prior to the early settlers' arrival, the undeveloped springs were known as "Medicine Springs" to the native Americans.  In 1843, explorer John Fremont (the man credited with naming Summer Lake, due to the area’s banana belt climate) once commented on the water’s healing properties, praising the mineral springs as the best he'd come across.  Today, this same therapeutic natural mineral water continues to flow through the original 15 by 30 foot pool, maintaining a temperature of 103 degrees.

Duane welcomes you to paradise
For nearly a century, Summer Lake Hot Springs has been the destination of adventure-seekers, travelers and, most particularly, individuals looking for a good, hot soak in natural mineral water.

In more modern times, in addition to “springers,” Summer Lake Hot Springs has attracted fishermen, star gazers, hang gliders, bird-watchers, rock hounds, paragliders, hikers, bicyclists, campers and RV enthusiasts from all over the world.

As Summer Lake continues to attract the outdoor community and fans of natural hot springs, I am committed to maintaining the historical and environmental integrity and rustic ambiance of the hot springs, while adding the charm and comfort of a world-class vacation experience.

My goal is to provide the finest in hospitality to ensure your stay is restful and full of natural beauty and wonder. Anyone seeking raw magnificence and tranquility will find paradise in Summer Lake Hot Springs.
