This is not a typical rental property - it is a home furnished and designed by and for wealthy people and lived in for 10 months of the year. While they are traveling during the summer they are willing to make it available to special people who appreciate value and luxury. Their local office manager is available to help summer tenants with any problems they may have, and their cleaning service will continue throughout the lease. If you live well normally and do not want to sacrifice this life style for a summer month in a truly great location, this is the place for you. We are looking for a mature couple, perhaps with family visiting during the month. We are not looking for three or four couples who want to party for a month, Corona del Mar is not that kind of place.
The most popular coastal towns in Southern OC for summer rentals are Neport Beach and Laguna Beach. Formally part of Newport Beach but geographically between the two is Corona del Mar. One reason for the difference between CDM and the others is that NB and LB allow short term rentals, so many of the houses that are rented have people coming in to party continuously for a weekend or week. For college students blowing off steam this may be OK, but if you want peace and quiet in a beach city, CDM will be found much more suitable. It is a place for mature people to relax and enjoy the CDM village ambiance.
The CDM state beach is one of the nicest on the coast. Little Corona and China Cove are adjacent beach areas that are very popular, and Lookout Point is one of the more scenic locations around. All this is moments away from this home. Ocean Blvd is the bluff frontage road along the most desirable part of town, and this home is one short block away. The home has ocean views from every bedroom, you can hear the waves break, and the rooftop deck takes advantage of the fact that the home is situated on the highest elevation in the area, so it looks out to the ocean, the harbor and across to the "wedge" a famous body surfing spot on Balboa peninsula.
The house occupies the entire end of the block, facing the ocean. As opposed to many in CDM, the entire 100 foot length of the home is street-side and displays a magnificent array of balconies and architectural forms that are very Tuscan in style. The grand entrance in the center opens to a foyer with 25 foot dome at the top and circular stair.
Every ceiling in the home is high - most 12 feet, and the master bedroom has an amazing 14 foot ceiling. Ceilings are coffered, planked or beamed everywhere. Walls are designed with a very European styling, involving many mouldings, and decorative pillers. The pictures will give some feeling for this, but it must be seen to be believed. This home has the feel of a european gem, but built in a unique OC community by one of its best architects.
The first floor includes two plasma screens, one in the library which is set up as a screening room with silk covered acoustic panels, and also includes a large collection of leather-bound classics. The family screen includes a 44 inch plasma that can be rotated to watch during food preparation in the amazing kitchen.
The master suite is all that one could want and it is separated from the "family wing" by a large second floor rotunda. The family wing comprises second and third floor bedrooms with queen beds, each with a luxury bathroom, a common area which can serve as a reading or living area and two balconies, one with two levels and an outdoor fire place.
The pictures do not show the current state of decoration. Many beautiful paintings and sculptures have been added, bringing the home to a truly great level of elegance, suitable for those with the most discriminating taste. And yet the patio outside the kitchen has dining for 8, two fountains and a gas fireplace. Finish dinner and carry a glass of wine down the street to Lookout Point and watch the ships come into harbor.
This is a very unique home for CDM and there is nothing to match it on the rental market. Contact us if you are looking for a great experience - we will be happy to get to know you.
