This beautifully renovated condo within The Phoenix at Steamboat has everything you could want, and then some! Beautifully renovated kitchen and bathrooms, comfy furniture, new mattresses and bedding, air conditioning, a private game room, heated pool & hot tubs, sauna, the list goes on and on. Whether visiting in ski season or another time of year, you will love the condo, the development, and the location! Winter season guests will be virtually ski in ski out. You can ski in to within 113 steps of the condo door, and walk only about 75 yards to the ski out access point. In ski season there is also a free private shuttle to get you around town, and that's in addition to the free city bus, which picks up and drops off right across the street. Summer guests will love the close proximity to many trails, kid friendly activities, shops and restaurants. You might not spend too much time in the unit, but when you're there, you'll appreciate having a nice quality place with so much to offer. Lets start with the condo itself. Since purchasing the property in 2006, the owner has steadily invested and reinvested to improve the property. Both bathrooms are in the final stages of renovation now, with completion and photography scheduled for early December 2018. The flooring has been upgraded twice, most recently in 2017. The 5 bed mattresses are all pretty new as well, none older than 2014. The comforters, blankets, sheets, pillows, and towels are replaced frequently as well, to help ensure high quality for all guests. The dark brown leather living room set is matched by the dark brown dining table, dining chairs, and barstools. There's even a large dark brown leather ottoman by the front door that is ideal for removing ski boots. All that dark brown is balanced out by white walls, white-gray counters, shiny stainless steel, the lighter honey maple shade of the flooring, and plenty of lamps and lights. Plus, this is a an end and corner unit, so you have extra windows to let in natural light. In fact, you have windows facing North, East, and West, so you can get a nice cross breeze going if you like. The main living area lis large enough to allow your whole group to gather together, even while spreading out to do different things. For example, the chef will still enjoy a great view of the living and dining areas, the large HDTV, the warm ambiance of the fireplace, and the company of their family and friends. The smart HDTV is 47 inches, very large, for the space. It is a Sharp Aquos, known for high quality, great contrast and bright colors, one of the first HDTVs to increase use of color beyond the primary colors to include yellow. This wonderful display is complemented by surround sound stereo, Roku, a Blu Ray player, and a strong wifi signal that is very capable of streaming your favorite media. The TV also has multiple HDMI input jacks which will allow you to connect your devices directly. For music lovers, the surround sound system has an earphone jack input, so it is easy to connect your phone or other device for audio purposes. In the kitchen, you'll find beautiful granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and new cabinetry. It is fully equipped and then some, including all the standard stuff plus helpful extras like the blender, crockpot, tupper-ware, and kid friendly items. You'll even find a nice assortment of spices and other essentials. The dining table is the perfect size for 6 - you won't feel scrunched at all. Also, from the dining area, you'll have a nice view of the Gondola! This condo also has a great outdoor space. Off the living room, sliding glass doors lead to a large covered patio with gas and charcoal grills, outdoor furniture, a picnic table, and a good bit of yard space to enjoy. There's just enough slope in some areas for sledding (sleds are provided in the garage), as well as flat areas that vary from shaded and cool to sunny and warm.
Back inside, both bedrooms and bathrooms are on the main level, just off the main living area. The master bedroom is big enough for a king, so with the current Queen it feels pretty spacious. The black forest decor bedding is high quality and very plush. This bedroom has a private bathroom, HDTV, closet, dresser, and for those who like to live out of their luggage, a nice long buffet table at waist height. The second bedroom has a Queen bed and 3 Twin beds. It's two bunk beds. One is a Twin over Queen and the other is a Twin over Twin. The hope is that this flexibility will be comfy for any type of group. The second bedroom also has an HDTV, closet, 3 nightstands with drawers, and an adjacent full bathroom. Both bedrooms face west for beautiful sunsets! Also, even though you might not need it, both bedrooms have their own AC unit, each rated to cool the square footage of the whole condo, so they're sure to keep you cool on the hottest of summer days. The two bathrooms have been nicely renovated with the aid of a local interior designer.. Italian tile was added to the bathtub and shower areas. The renovations also added new shower head and bathtub faucets, clear glass barn doors, new flooring tile, new vanities and matching medicine cabinet mirrors. Also, the walls were all replaced, textures, and painted. Though these bathrooms are not huge, you will appreciate the quality. Finally, in the hallway between the bedrooms, you'll find your own front loading laundry machines, so you can pack and travel light!
One of the best features of this condo is the private garage game room. You won't find another 2-Bedroom in town with this feature! The garage was converted into a game room to provide guests with more usable space, and it has been a real treat, especially for groups with kids. You go down an indoor stairway to access the garage, which is heated, so it is very useable year round. The garage has been carpeted and wired up with a wall mounted TV. Games include Foos Ball, Darts, Pool, Air Hockey, and Ping Pong. It has benches and ski racks, and is an ideal space for storing you skis, snowboards, or bikes. The garage also provides storage for other things you might want to use. This includes floats for the pool, sleds for winter fun, there's even an artificial Christmas tree for holiday guests. This condo really does have it all. For those of you who are bringing a car, don't worry, there are two parking lots, each with covered carport parking. Also mid size to compact cars can park directly in front of this condo's garage.
The development has a lot going for it too. There is a year round front desk in the clubhouse, and a ski season private shuttle service. The seasonal pool is heated to a comfortable temperature in winter as well as summer, plus there are two large hot tubs. The pool and hot tubs are typically closed for cleaning and maintenance from the middle of April until late May, and from sometime in late September or October until late November. Check with us before booking if you are visiting during these times and wonder if you'll be able to use these amenities. The clubhouse next to the pool is open year round. This air conditioned space has 3 levels to enjoy. The top floor includes restrooms, meeting space with AV equipment and a fitness center that is small but very functional. The middle level has the access to the pool & hot tub area, plus the BBQ area, which has 2 grills, and multiple outdoor picnic areas. Back inside, there's a wet bar with ice machine, multiple dining or game tables, and multiple lounge areas, including one with a fireplace and one with an HDTV and surround sound. Oh and there is another set of restrooms on the middle level. Heading downstairs, the lower level of the clubhouse opens to the lower phase of the development, so you'll come through here if you have friends staying one of the lower phase condos, or if you park in the lower phase parking lot. The lower level of the clubhouse s where you'll find some attractive features. There is a lounge area with a pool table, a nook with coffee, tea, newspapers, and other goodies, a business center, 2 more lounge areas, the front desk, management offices, and yet another set of restrooms.
Finally, lets talk about one of the best features - the location!! The Phoenix at Steamboat is virtually ski in ski out. The developments right across the street sit right on the Stampede ski trail, but will cost you a pretty penny. The Phoenix is affordable by comparison, but just as convenient. Families with small kids will love how close they are to the ski school, the ticket office, the Gondola, ski rental shops, and "The Outlaw" mountain coaster, which is open in summer and winter seasons. The base area is even more kid friendly during summer than during ski season. When all the snow melts, Burgess Creek flows through the area, but the water level is controlled to be at a flow level that is ideal for kids to splash around. There are even a couple of "beaches" along the creek. There are also tons of activities. There's a mini golf course, a high ropes course, a 4 story rock climbing wall, summer tubing, and other attractions. There are many restaurants and bars, as well as a large stage. This area plays host to movie nights, free concerts, art shows, hot air balloon glows, and more. Don't forget, the ski area sits on national forest. So your condo is literally right next to a national forest trailhead. You can hike or bike from your door! You can also ride up the Gondola for food, beverages, amazing views, sunsets, or to hike and bike around to the highest parts of the ski area with a 2000 vertical foot head start! This area is also connected to other trails too. The Mountain Sneak trail, Mt. Werner trail, and Burgess Creek trail all converge right next to The Phoenix. These paved trails are perfect for walking, strolling, and they connect with the Yampa River Core Trail, which leads to downtown Steamboat, the Emerald Mountain trail system, and beyond. The whole town is right out your door.
