“Salt Water” is a luxury beach home that makes the most of seamless indoor/outdoor living in La Jolla Shores. If your vision of a beach home includes eating breakfast in a sunny and private courtyard, a short stroll to the warm sand and cool Pacific and walking home via the gourmet market, then Salt Water is your holiday destination.
Lisa and I renovated this home for our family and friends and now we make it available to you and your friends.
From the crisp seaside colors to the stainless steel countertops we’re told that we’ve succeeded in blending contemporary design with the warmth and openness of a sunny seaside retreat.
All the modern conveniences and luxuries of a finely appointed home we offer to you.
While the inside of the house is cool and very comfortable by itself, we created a clean outdoor living space, allowing you to make the most of Southern California’s fantastic weather.
The nicely landscaped front yard is secure and gated, and includes a kid's teeter-totter and large grassy area perfect for fun in the sun.
When you decide to venture outside the home, the world famous La Jolla Shores beach is three short blocks West (no hills or busy streets); two blocks (South) are La Jolla Shore’s award-winning restaurants (Piatti’s, Barbarellas, Osteria Romantica), surf schools, kayak rentals, fresh food markets and coffee shops. I guess we are now on the map as Starbucks is within walking distance as well. Of course you’re only 5 minutes driving from “Down Town” La Jolla, 15 minutes to Sea World and 20 minutes to the Zoo.
Our home has 3 bedrooms, with comfortable sleeping for 8 people. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed with private bathroom, beautiful French doors that open to the center courtyard, walk-in closet and television with full cable, DVD and stereo. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed with spacious closet and desk area. The third bedroom, “Kid’s Room” has two twin bunk beds and large closet all very light and bright. The second bathroom has lots of counter space, a large bathtub and shower and specialty tile flooring. All linens (sheets, pillows, blankets, bath towels, beach towels) are provided.
As our kid’s loved to roll in the sand we created an outdoor hot and cold shower that is very private. This encouraged the sand to stay outside with bathing suits on the drying rack before dripping down the hall.
Our fondest memories (and soon to be your summer tradition) are of the peace of sitting in the living room with vaulted ceiling and music coming from 8 speakers (living room, kitchen, courtyard) while playing games with all the doors open and kids running everywhere… If the weather cools down enough to light the wood fire then it’s just a bonus to the already relaxing atmosphere.
Other goodies include: The large screen television with “Bose” surround sound for movies that thunder or sooth. There is also a long dining table with seating for 8 next to a large sunny window overlooking the front garden and seasonal flowers, roses and oranges.
Lisa and I love to entertain which for us means we love to cook…actually she is the cook… We developed a working kitchen that’s very open and blends with the activity of the home. Of course there is a gas cook top with convection oven and a separate second oven if needed. All appliances (frig, microwave, dishwasher…) are full sized and full of quality. The custom cabinets and stainless counter tops create more room than you will know what to do with. There is also a center island with bar stools perfect for visiting the cook while not getting in the way. You will be pleased with the abundance of quality dishes, glassware, utensils, as well as all kitchen supplies and small appliances necessary to prepare any meal and have very nice parties. There is also a breakfast table in the kitchen area with seating for 4.
Off the master bedroom is a door to the “back patio”. In this red bricked patio threr are two free standing buildings one is an office and the second is a tool shed. The office has two glass French doors looking onto the patio, a desk and chair, high-speed internet (wired), phone and fax thus allowing the working vacationer to “check-in” without background noises or distraction. If the kids need a “time out” or just a place to relax, they can also come here to be separate from the goings on in the house.
Parking is plentiful at Salt Water; driveway area can hold 4 - 5 cars. The home is equipped with a full size washer and dryer for your convenience. We can provide pak-n-play cribs, highchairs, strollers and noise monitors for families with small children.
To make your vacation at the beach even easier you’ll find the BBQ, bicycles, boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers, so that you can better enjoy the area the way we do. But most important, and speaking from years of experience, parents will appreciate the BIG WAGON to carry all the aforementioned “must haves” to the beach and back. You’ll be thanking me for this added extra.
Our home is about outside living, the warm sun and a constant cool ocean breeze. – It’s about dinners outside under the stars (seating for 10+) and early morning beach walks. We like to be in the mix of the scene but at the close of the gate, have an oasis of peace and warmth of family and friends surrounding us. With 11 doors opening to the center courtyard this is truly an indoor/outdoor experience.
Enjoy the passion fruit, apples, oranges and gardens but most of all enjoy the time together in Salt Water and in our community, you are truly welcome.
Additional Rate Information
**These rates do not include a 10.5% tax, cleaning fee or refundable security deposit. **We require a minimum 4 night rental during the Winter and Holiday seasons.
