Property Information
Treat yourself to some well-deserved R & R in a valley long held sacred by the Native peoples. Relax and recharge, rest and recuperate, reflect and research, retreat and review, reach inward and regroup.

As the name suggests the house sits on the edge of a meadow with wrap-around views including Mount Ashland and the Siskiyous. The Meadow House was built in 1987 by a Buddhist nun. The care and attention to detail in the placement and building of the house makes for a serene and idyllic setting.

The main floor comfortably sleeps up to four plus one child. The main guest quarters feature a California-king size bed, writing desk, walk-in closet with a child-sized bed, and adjoining bathroom with shower.

A separate downstairs room with it's own entrance is available for larger groups, and can sleep up to six if set up dormitory style with the extra mattresses. The main floor's second bathroom is available, though not close. This extra room makes it possible to accomodate larger groups. It has it's own Dish TV and WiFi connection.

The living room has a new queen size sofa bed. The modern facilities include washer, dryer, dishwasher, freezer, microwave, toaster-oven, computer, internet and fax links, and television (if you absolutely feel you have to stay connected with the world outside the valley).

The house boasts extensive LP, CD (popular to classical to new age) audio and video tape collections. Curl up on the couch in front of the toasty wood burning stove with a book from the library that we trust will serve you well whatever your tastes and interests, from science to personal growth, from health to art and photography. The upright piano is an added feature with a varied selection of music from beginner to expert.

To be active or not to be active that is the question. The choice is yours! The mythical State of Jefferson (Northern California and Southern Oregon) has much to offer from the sublime to adrenaline pumping.

Your choices include: do nothing; read or listen to music, meditate or contemplate, walk or hike, jog or run, or follow your creative urges to paint, sketch or take photographs. Other activities include rock climbing, river rafting, downhill or cross-country skiing, home cooking or fine dining, enjoying the theatre or a concert and much more ...

The Siskiyous are host to many trail heads giving access to the Pacific Crest Trail, Pilot Rock and Mt. Ashland. River raft or kayak the wild and scenic rivers of the Rogue or Klamath rivers, each with stretches that vary from sedate to thrilling.

In the winter, ski the Mount Shasta or Mount Ashland Ski and Snowboard Resort. Ski cross country, or bring your snowshoes and get out in the brisk fresh air.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Oregon Stage Works, the Ginger Rogers Theater, and other theatre and performance venues, and the Britt Music Festival (in season) offer vibrant cultural experiences in nearby Ashland and Jacksonville.

Within the valley: a visit to Tashi Choling, a Tibetan Buddhist Temple and Statue Garden is an absolute must, and an easy walk from the Meadow House. The valley remained untouched by glaciation and holds many unique plant varieties.

Great opportunities abound to see eagles, bluebirds, swallows, deer, elk, bobcats, wild turkeys, coyotes, rabbits, and varieties of squirrels -- all kinds of animal and bird-watching for the patient.

The Meadow House offers YOU a unique experience!
