Mountain Skye Lodge has a charming log and stone exterior. One of the High Country’s best contractors has spent many hours customizing the cottage. The main floor has an open-concept kitchen, dining and living area with vaulted ceilings. There are also four (4) bedrooms. The game room and den are located under high ceilings on the lower level. The loft is only accessible by ladder and makes a great sleeping area for kids and teens. The decks are large and wrap around both the side and rear of the house, offering a great view of the mountains. They also accommodate a hot tub and countless outdoor dining and bistro style tables, as well as log-hewn Adirondack chairs and rockers. The property is well-landscaped and large, with a firepit, a small lake, woods and walking trails and plenty of space for children and adults to run around. Mountain Skye Lodge makes a great destination for your family vacation.
The wooded area is located in Banner Elk and has hiking and walking trails that lead up to the mountain top. The open section gently rolls down to the bottom, making it safe and fun for children and families of all ages. This house is located in a peaceful, natural setting, but is only three (3) miles from downtown Banner Elk. Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is only six (6) mile away and Beech Mountain Ski Resort is only eight (8) mile away. Grandfather Mountain, with its famous Profile trails, is less than ten miles away. Eight (8) miles from the village of Valle Crucis is its riverfront community park, and the original Mast General Store. Seven Devils with its scenic Otter Falls Trail, and Hawksnest Snowtubing & ZipLline Park is less than 12 miles away. Boone, the Appalachian State University Campus and Blowing Rock are both less than 15 (15) miles apart. Tweetsie Railroad and Appalachian Ski Mountain are located between Boone, NC and Blowing Rock. They are less than 20 miles away. Elk River, Watauga River, and Watauga lake are all less than twenty (20) miles apart. Here are just a few things to do and places to see in the area!
The impressive gabled porch welcomes guests to the house. The porch features a custom-woven-branch railing with poplar bark accents. It also has tongue-and-groove ceilings with chandeliers and custom-hewn log-hewn chairs. As you enter the front door, look out across the large windows that frame the mountain views. On the right, you will find a mudroom that has a washer and dryer as well as benches for removing your wet or icy boots. Custom-made live edge racks are available to hang skis, jackets, and umbrellas. The main bathroom is located on the left. It has a full bath with a shower/tub combination.
The kitchen features granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, custom touches like woven-branch details, and a chandelier made of antlers centered above the dining table. The table can seat up to eight people. The living room has leather furniture, a HD Smart TV and a wood-burning fire place. This vacation home has a beautiful backdrop of Grandfather Mountain and other peaks, including Hanging Rock, Grandmother Mountain and others.
This level has the master bedroom suite. The suite has a mission style king bed flanked with live edge bedside lamps and tables, a leather chair, a large mounted HD SmartTV, and a private bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination. French doors open onto the rear deck, which offers a view of the vista. A queen bedroom is equipped with an HDTV.
The lower level has two large bedrooms: a queen and a king. Both bedrooms have HD Smart TVs with mountain views and one also has French doors that lead out to a large rear deck. The hallway bathroom has a tub/shower combo that is shared by both bedrooms. On the lower level, there is also a large den equipped with leather sofas and chairs as well as an HD Smart TV. The den is open to the area of the game room. The game room has a foosball, a poker/game table with eight seats, and chairs. It is ideal for extra dining space. A smaller two-seater table is available for chess and checkers matches.
Above the game room is a fun, cozy loft, accessed only by ladder. The custom-made woven-branch balustrading extends almost to the ceiling, for safety. The loft furniture includes a twin-sized bed and a chair that can be unfolded to create a second twin-sized bed. The loft can comfortably accommodate two children or teens. Please ensure that anyone who may use the ladder can safely ascend and descend, and that they understand that it is at their risk. Carolina Cabin Rentals and the owners of this property do not accept any liability for injuries caused by improper or unsafe use or the loft's access ladder. We ask that an adult listed on the booking witness and approve the use of the loft before anyone under 18 years old uses it.
The main deck wraps around the lodge's side, starting with the gabled porch in front. The open-air side porch has a small table with two chairs and a glass-top. The deck continues around the corner to reveal stunning panoramic views, and another table with chairs. The deck extends along the entire length of the home, with the last third covered. The deck features a beautiful round glass-top dining table with a live edge wood base and a stainless steel gas grill. The lower level rear deck features stone columns that match stonework on the lower exterior. It also has a six-seater hot tub and more tables and chairs to enjoy.
The house and its large outdoor deck area all look down on a three-acre property that is gently rolling and beautifully landscaped. Evergreen trees line the property. There is also a small pond fed by a creek that grows when it rains. A short walk from the house is another creek that flows constantly. The woods behind and above the house are protected. The lodge offers hiking and walking trails that lead up to the top and provide views of adjacent Beech Mountain.
Mountain Skye Lodge provides year-round comfort, with six Smart HDTVs and digital cable television programming. WiFi is available at high speed. Only dogs are allowed. Maximum of 1 or 2 pets per reservation. Standard pet fees are applicable.
