We absolutely loved the place. We stayed end of May. It has everything you will need. The house was clean and fully equipped. Some reviews note the place is older but that doesn't prevent you from enjoying it and doing everything you would want to.

We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the floaties were the best!! thanks for having those.

The beach is just a minute walk and there are chairs and a lounge chair, just perfect to sit and read and enjoy the breeze and views. We couldn't make much use of the kayak as the beach is on the Atlantic side and the water wasn’t as clam on the days we were there, but the snorkeling was good and there are lots of beaches in Eleuthera that we drove and explored some.
The deck upstairs from the bedroom is another lovely spot when you want more breeze. The stars at night from the deck are wonderful. There is a grill, so we made use of that every night. There is a grocery store in Governor’s Harbour and another one in the town just as you make your way into the highway from Banks Rd.
Leslie was great in staying in touch. The caretakers, Mr and Mrs Coakley were very helpful when we needed it. We had an issue with stray dogs by the beach and they sent the gardener to see what is happening. It seems like the dogs set a den underneath the deck, he cleared it so they don’t come back.
All in all we had an excellent stay here!

We spent 2 amazing weeks in this house.

Horizons House was perfect for our family of 4. The house offers air co, Tvs, Internet, washer, dryer, pool, kayak and is well located to discover the island.
The house was perfectly clean, no bugs inside. The house is in the middle of nature so It is normal to have mosquitoes and noseums, so be prepared with repellant and baby oil.
Danny the property manager took care of us and called many times to see if we are ok.
I highly recommend this rental.

Horizons house had a great location central to all of our activities. The house was clean and nice, as was the pool and outside area. What really made the stay that extra special was Danny the caretaker of the house. He was there to greet us when arrived and was super nice and helpful from beginning to end. He truly made us feel at home and was always there for us. We knew if we needed anything at anytime- he was our guy!! When we return to the island, we hope to stay here again and again. My wife and I stayed 21 days in Horinzons House. We loved the (warmed) pool and the path to the beach/ocean (cabanan with breathtaking views). The owner, Lesley, was very friendly and coöperative. The house was as expected. It was comfortable. It is not a 5 star hotel so we knew not to expect that. There was an issue with ants. After the first day we took up completely washing all our dishes and scrubbing the counters clean. The ants were no longer in the counters but I did see them other places. The bed was comfortable and I greatly appreciated the air conditioning! The pool was great and clean. The property manager, Danny, was friendly and helpful. He came when we asked for a change of garbage. The property felt safe and secluded.

My wife and I spent 8 fabulous nights at Horizons. We loved the privacy of the house and using the pool for morning and afternoon swims after hours spent at the various beaches. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We felt the beach in front of the property had the best snorkeling on the island.

Overall our experience was very positive and we had the best time on our trip. The house was clean, pool was clean and a great additional option when we got tired of being in the sun. The caretaker of the property was wonderful and checked in with us multiple times throughout our stay and was prompt to remove garbage, etc. Most days on the beach we didn’t see a single person which was nice and there is a lot of reef right on the beach to snorkel. If visiting, you’ll definitely need a rental car (SUV) to get around as the property isn’t super close to grocery stores, etc. I’d also suggest to anyone traveling to Eleuthera for the first time to either expect to spend a lot on food/eating out as the price of food was very high. I’d more so recommend packing frozen meat to bring with you as options are limited and expensive and stores don’t stay open very late. If you’re looking for a place off the beaten path, this is a great option.

We had a nice vacation in Eleuthera and at Horizons House. This island was unlike any other we have ever visited. For the size there are very few people, stores, restaurants, etc. We were the only people at most tourist attractions as well as on our dive excursions. So the same went for Horizons House, we may have seen people way in the distance one day, the rest of the time it was just our footprints in the beautiful sand.
The gazebo at the beach was my happy place at the end of the day. The house had everything we needed for our family. We made many meals there since it was a chore to pop out to eat. Just get what you need to stay in after a day of exploring. The pool was pretty and clean, but it was HOT and therefore not refreshing (the ocean was a better cool off). However, we did get daily visits from a Herron couple by the pool. And as with any remote place, the electricity would go out frequently. One night a storm cut it out at 1am and we did not get it back until midmorning. That was a very uncomfortable night. Also the house is a bit old and the windows do not shut so pesky no-see ums and mosquitos will bite and buzz about 24/7. The a/c did the trick keeping things very cool when there was electricity. Overall the charm of the island flushed out all of our uncomfortable moments and we had a great time.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay! We do apologize for the bugs this summer--it has been rainier than usual. All the windows have tight screens, so bugs cannot get in that way. But if the door is left ajar even for a few seconds some will get in.

My wife & I visited Eleuthera during the period when the Bahama's opened up for visitors from the US in July 2020. While it was an effort to get tested, air travel, and the long drive from North Eleuthera airport - once we arrived at Horizons House it was all worth it.

We had a wonderful time at Horizons House. The house was clean and spacious, with comfortable furniture and beds. All the A/C's, appliances, TV & wifi worked great, and most of all - the pool was excellent! With only a short walk down to the beach and gazebo, we spent many mornings & evenings between the pool and the beach, just relaxing and enjoying the view.

Danny, the caretaker, is just the best. He took care of the pool, and called regularly during the week to see if all was ok, and was on the spot immediately when we had a small issue with an air conditioner - turned out it only needed to be turned off, then back on.

Note: The island power can sometimes have surges or lose power for short periods of time during rainy periods, and A/C's don't always like power surges.

While some stores were closed due to summer & Covid, there were restaurants & shops open in Governors Harbor. Be sure to visit The local Island Farm store and Leon Levi's Nature preserve, and of course, the many beaches in the area. Our favorite was Poponi beach down the road from the house.

Overall, the island was beautiful and we had a wondeful time at Horizons House. We had excellent communication with the owner before we arrived, and as we were getting ready to leave. When we return to Eleuthera, we will definitely stay at Horizons again!

We enjoyed the peace and quiet of Horizons House. The house itself was comfortable, nothing over the top special. The appliances in the kitchen worked well and the water pressure in the shower was great. The house was clean and very private. Totally secluded and away from it all. We LOVED that about the house and th even pool was fabulous as well. We only used the bed in the upstairs bedroom but it was extremely comfortable.
This being our 9th trip to Eleuthera we have stayed at a variety of homes. We would rent this place again in a heartbeat.
The caretaker was also very helpful.

We couldn't have been more pleased with Horizons House. We did not use the air conditioning, but rather chose to have the windows open, giving us a great breeze the whole time. The house was very comfortable and had what we needed. It had a wash line so we could hang our clothes out after washing them so we really didn't need the dryer. We had complete privacy and peace and quiet since there is no house on either side. The pool was great and the beach was only a minute walk. We had to cross a sand road to get there, but there was never a car on it. Sometimes we would walk the beach and never see another soul. We used the bicycles and rode the sand/dirt road to some of the other beaches. The bugs were minimal. The beaches in Eleuthera are just beautiful and some of the best we've seen. We ate at some restaurants, which were low key, but good. Other times, we cooked at the house. Food and restaurants are expensive, though. If there is a downside, the coffee maker was tiny and some of the windows would not open. All in all, we had a great experience at Horizons House and would definitely return.

We enjoyed our stay on Eleuthera. The exterior photos of the home were exactly like the photos. The living/dining area and downstairs bedroom looks a bit different, and seems to be recently updated with new furniture, bedding and/or window dressings. There are also newer lounge chairs on the beach deck. Even though we were staying as a couple, we decided to sleep in the downstairs bedroom as it was the most convenient for us. Our favorite aspects of the property were the feeling of privacy in the pool area and the path to the gorgeous beach. It is a bit of a drive to Governors Harbour, we clocked it at about 18 minutes. Overall I would recommend this property to anyone seeking privacy and easy access to one of Eleuthera’s most beautiful beaches.

When we first got to the house, I was leary because I thought we were too far from the beach but after walking the beautiful, short stone path to the beach in a minute or less, I realized we had the best of both worlds-total privacy at the house and pool and then our very own beach!! Danny was great! He checked in on us several times during our week there and even came over and hung out with us one day, teaching us a lot about local life. Tippy's was our favorite place to eat. Yes, food and groceries are expensive. One of our favorite activities was to find local beaches to see the differences and looking for sea glass! In the week we were there, we only saw 5 people on our beach. French Leave Beach was the most crowded, about 25 people, but one of the prettiest, Ten Bay also a fav. Our beach at the house, by far, had the best sea glass finds.

My partner and I had a dream holiday at Horizon's House. The home was comfortable, clean and fully stocked. Watching the stars at night in the heated pool was an experience we wish we could have bottled and taken home with us. The beach is 3 minutes walk from your front door, the sand powdery soft, the water clear and warm and few people around. Danny the caretaker was super friendly and made him self available for whatever you needed. Definitely a gem of a vacation home.

We enjoyed our stay at this private property. The manager is good to work with and responsive. The home is comfortable. Nice furniture. Safe and felt secure. There is no safe for your valuables. No condiments or spices left for renters. Paper products available. We notified manger of any issues so he can take care of for next renter though few. We were delayed due to weather missing our connecting flight delaying our vacation two days. We did not go to the expense of rental insurance so no credits or exchanges were given. We arrived at North Eleuthera Airport and had rented an SUV from Nehmers picked it up and traveled the entire island which is very long and a lot of driving from one village to the next and beach to beach. We felt safe and enjoyed the warm weather. If you get the opportunity to visit the lighthouse beach before Disney destroys this lovely natural asset please do! We are disappointed Disney is buying this valuable area as it’s the best beach on the island though a little trying to get to so worth it. There are a couple decent grocery stores. We did bring our own meat. A nice new gas BBQ was appreciated. I would highly suggest to heat the pool it gets chilly during the evening and cools it down during February. Very nice pool. Electricity went out twice while there for a couple hours. Phone service was off no internet connection. Manager got it going for last day there. Satellite tv off the last morning. It would be nice to have access to change the satellite channels from upstairs bedroom but it is nice to have a tv up there. There is a spiral staircase to the upstairs master which could be troublesome for an older person, there is regular stairs outside up to the upper deck. We were visited by a mamma and daddy and two baby kittens all white while there we purchased catfood and fed them hoping others take good care of them also. We would recommend this home to others especially two couples or a family. We would rent again.

The owner has installed a complete second internet system as a back up. So now the house can get internet from the telephone company via DSL or from the cell phone carrier. Horizon House's internet should now be the most reliable on the island!
