If you are looking for the perfect hunting house or a quiet relaxing weekend The Ponderosa is the spot. Situated on 5 acres of peace and quiet in Belmont, NY (West Almond) and surrounded by thousands of acres in Phillips Creek State Forest. Adjacent is the Palmers Pond and Turnpike State Forest offering more than 10,000 acres in beautiful Allegany County.
This house has been in the family for over 40 years and was built with wood from the trees surrounding the property. The house features 2 bedrooms downstairs both with double beds and an open room upstairs with 6 beds! There is a full bathroom with shower and an open floor plan with the living room and kitchen. Sit out on the open front porch or back deck and enjoy your morning coffee while listing the sounds of the creek just behind the property. Enjoy a day of hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling or horseback riding on miles of trails. Grab the fishing poles and take a short scenic drive to catch some big bass at Palmers Pond or Lake Lodge. The Genesee River in Belmont has great trout fishing starting April 1st. Want to take a trip back in time? Then take a look at School House No. 4. On top of North Rd. Built before the Civil War and previous to Lincoln becoming president, it served as a school house for over 100 consecutive years. We are just a 15 minute drive to Alfred State College and a 2 hour drive from Buffalo.
Attention Hunters! Get your Friends together and enjoy the best hunting in NY State. Just a 5 minute walk and you will be on over 10,000 acres of state land loaded with big bucks and plenty of turkey.

About Phillips Creek:
Phillips Creek State Forest, also known as Allegany #1, totals 2,709 acres. The state forest is located in Allegany County in the Towns of Alfred, Ward, and West Almond, and borders State Route 244 between Belmont and Alfred. This area provides opportunities for many informal outdoor recreational activities, such as, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, camping, bird watching, nature photography, and hunting.
