Broadmoor Historic District is included in the neighborhood. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Many families, young professionals and graduate students from nearby Universities call it home. Broadmoor is located Uptown in Carrollton. Broadmoor is defined as Eve Street in the north, Washington Avenue, Toledano Streets, South Claiborne Avenue, South Claiborne Avenue, South Claiborne Avenue, South Rocheblave Street, Nashville Avenue, and Jefferson Avenue in the west. Broadmoor is the lowest part of New Orleans. It was swampland until the early 20th century. It was once a large swamp and a popular fishing area for Uptown residents. The city developed the drainage system in the late nineteenth century to combat flooding problems. This drainage system was expanded to drain low-lying areas of the city such as Broadmoor. As the land was being drained, houses were built. The first houses were often high-roofed because of the fear of floods. As the population grew it became more common for low-lying houses to be built. Broadmoor was severely impacted by the Louisiana Flood of 1995. In less than 40-hours, two powerful storms swept through the region and dumped more than 20 inches on the city. The city was once again inundated by Hurricane Katrina, despite the fact that drainage had been improved since the 1995 floods. Broadmoor, which is located in a low area, was particularly hard hit. In some places, the water was up to 14 feet deep. After the water receded, one plan proposed turning Broadmoor into a parkland. Residents of Broadmoor objected to the proposal. Broadmoor residents opposed the plan. Broadmoor is like a microcosm of New Orleans. It is 67 percent African American, 26 percent White and 4 percent Hispanic. In the area, there is a small library, a park and several schools. Broadmoor has been a wonderful place for families to live for more than 100 year. Send us a note if you want to know more about the neighborhood. Our 3 bedroom, 2-bath home is professionally decorated and filled with local artwork. It can comfortably accommodate large group. This home is located near the French Quarter and is ideal for groups who want to experience the best of New Orleans. Great place to relax and rejuvenate
Being a local to New Orleans, I'm always looking to explore different parts of the city, I love a great Staycation. This rental and it's location gave me the best of both worlds. It's luxurious, clean and spacious not to mention so close to Freret St, which has everything you could possibly ask for, a variety of restaurants, bars and people watching.
