Property Description
Fern Cottage is an adorable 2BR/2BA Bavarian style cottage located on Beech Mountain. Fern Cottage is situated on a quiet, sloping property where dogs and children can play safely. Wild turkeys, deer and red-foxes are among the native wildlife that may occasionally be seen. The open-air deck on the main level extends from the front of the cottage to the side and the back. It has a gas barbecue, outdoor seating and dining options. The lower covered porch in the rear features a small bistro set with chairs, and opens to the backyard. Fern Cottage is surrounded on three sides by trees and has a cozy, "treehouse-like" feeling in the late spring, early summer and early autumn. Seasonal views can be enjoyed after the October fall foliage season, through winter and into early spring. Fern Cottage gets a new look, as a more vibrant and active family takes over Beech Mountain for winter weather activities. The main level of Fern Cottage has an open Living Room/Dining Area, with a large wood-burning Fireplace, a large HD Smart TV and a comfortable couch. Glass doors lead out to the rear patio. The cottage also offers views of the seasonal and wooded mountain ranges. The dining table can accommodate four to six people but can be extended up to eight. The adjacent kitchen has been renovated recently and features stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. It can cook and serve meals to a whole family. On the main floor, there are also two King-sized bedrooms. Each bedroom features an HD Smart TV and a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination. Fern Cottage's lower-level features a large family room with a wood-burning fire place and a Smart TV. There is a bar area with a microwave, coffeemaker and table and chairs. Also, there is a fridge, sink, and microwave. A leather sofa can be converted into a queen-sized mattress. On the lower level there is a second bathroom with a shower, and a laundry area with a washing machine/dryer. The porch with bistro-table is accessible from the family room. The front of Fern Cottage can be found on the lower level. It is located below main patio. Fern Cottage allows only one dog per reservation. The maximum weight is 50 pounds. Standard pet fees are applicable. Pets are not allowed on beds or furniture. If pets are left unattended, they must be in a kennel or crated. Fern Cottage is the perfect winter getaway. It's located less than one mile from the slopes and skating rinks of Beech Mountain Ski Resort. Relax in the cottage while watching the fireplace crackle and enjoy the snowfall. Guests can enjoy award winning mountain biking, hiking and a mountaintop Disc Course during spring, summer or fall. Beech Mountain offers scenic lift rides, weekend concerts, and mini-golf during peak summer and fall days. Beech Mountain has many great restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping options. Fern Cottage is only 4 miles away from Buckeye Lake and Recreation Center. The recreation center has pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts. Indoor courts are available for volleyball, weight training and fitness. There are also exercise rooms, showers and bathrooms, and locker rooms. Canoeing, canoeing and fishing are also available at the lake. Picnics can be enjoyed in gazebos along the waterfront. There are also softball, baseball, and outdoor soccer fields. Banner Elk is located at the base of Beech Mountain, just 5 miles away from Fern Cottage. There are some of our favorite local restaurants as well as a downtown with fun craft fairs, and other family friendly events. Both the Dog Park and Butterfly Garden are great for both kids and adults. Fern Cottage is also close to other attractions, such as The Banner Elk Winery, Vineyard, Ketelworks Brewery and Wilderness Run Outdoor Alpine Roller Coaster. Fern Cottage is close to many other attractions: Sugar Mountain Ski and Golf Resort is only 9 miles away, Grandfather Mountain and Profile Hiking Trails can be found 11 miles apart and 13 miles from Valle Crucis lies the village of Valle Crucis and its pre-civil war Original Mast General Store. This area also has a riverfront community park. Hawksnest Snow Tubing & Zip Lines Park – 16 Miles away Boone & Blowing Rock – 25 miles Watauga Rivers & Elk Rivers - just minutes away They offer whitewater rafting, tubing and kayaking. Watauga Lake is 20 miles away. Water skiing, boating and fishing are all available at many marinas. Linville Caverns and Linville Falls are approximately 30 miles apart. This cozy retreat nestled among the woods has an open-concept layout, a kitchen equipped with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, as well six seats at its dining table. The living room has a large HD SmartTV and leather seating. The living room has a mini-split system for heating and cooling. Outside, a partially covered deck overlooks the yard with views of the mountains. Two king-sized rooms on the upper floor have HD Smart TVs, and share a bathroom with a tub/shower combo. On the lower level, you will also find a queen-sized sleeper couch with a full bathroom and a wood-burning fireplace. You can also access the deck from this level. On the lower level, there is a second living room. The lower level has a second living area, a microwave, a mini fridge and dinning space for six people. Two (2) vehicles are allowed to park on the same level. Eight (8) steps lead from the parking area to the main level porch. There is a side level entrance to the Living Room. The stairs leading to the lower level on the main floor are narrower and steeper. This is in keeping both with the style of the cottage and the time when it was built. This is an option that guests with disabilities may want to consider.
