Vacation Rental Description

This spectacular all Cedar Lodge is located on beautiful Smith Mountain Lake and is one of eleven homes nestled in secluded no wake cove. Because the cove is "no wake" you can swim, kayak and canoe without being disturbed by jet skies and motor boats, a rarity on the lake. The cove is surrounded by a 2000 acre wildlife mountainous nature preserve so your views are of deep woods, silhouetted by Smith Mountain and its surrounding mountains. Smith Mountain Lake has 22,000 acres of clean water and has 500 miles of shoreline. There is a mile long drive to reach our Lodge that is just magical. It is deeply wooded with an abundance of hardwoods on both sides, not a home in sight. Once you have made this turn on our lane, you will be delighted with the serine, natural beauty that surrounds our home.
Our recently renovated gorgeous home features a gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops and Tuscany styled charming maple cabinets, a large great room with cathedral ceilings and an incredibly beautiful floor to ceiling stone fireplace. Our one level home's main living area is totally open so if you are in the kitchen, you are not isolated from the other guests. Cedar beams throughout the house adds a unique charm to this beautifully decorated and inviting home. All the furniture is extremely comfortable and cozy. We added an additional sun room featuring a panoramic wall of glass sun room provides breathtaking views of the lake and mountains from anywhere in the living area.
We offer three bedrooms and two full baths. The master bath has an over-sized custom tiled shower with three shower heads. The other bath offers a Jacuzzi tub. The cabinets are all rich maple with granite counter tops. The guest bedroom has a sliding glass door to the deck, which offers a fantastic view of the lake and Smith Mountain... what a way to wake up each morning.
Amenities include a 45 inch HD Sony TV, surround sound speakers and outdoor speakers, great for entertainment on our oversized treck deck. We live in the house for several months of the years so the house is appointed with every pot and pan, dish and glass wear imaginable. Many of our guests has told us it is far better equipped than their own homes. We also provide an array of spices.
The deck has two tables, lots of chairs, a hammock, and is surrounded by a basket s of flowers. There is a mature oak tree next to the deck and it's gracefully limbs provides wonderful shade from early spring thru the fall. The deck's view of the lake and the mountains is simply breathtaking. There is a lower level patio as well that has another table and chairs for six and a charcoal barbeque. We have a boat slip with two private docks, perfect for lots of fun water entertainment. It is 20 ' deep off our dock.
Our no wake 60 acres cove is famous for its abundance and variety of fish. It is where the stripers spawn every year and fisherman catch bass, muskies and cat fish right off our docks. You will see an exciting array of wild life including eagles, owls, ospreys, humming birds, wild turkey and of course deer but we also have several albino deer which are spectacular to see if you are lucky.
Ideally located in southwest Virginia's mountain foothills, our Lodge setting balances the beauties of landscape, mountains and lake with tranquility and recreational pursuits for a perfect vacation. Each season offers delights for the senses. Spring brings beautiful mountain laurels, azaleas, and dogwoods. Summers are lush with the aroma of heavy woods and an array of flower blossoms. Crape myrtles surround our property in late summer bursting our gardens with a variety of color. Autumn paints the landscape in burning brush strokes of red, gold, and orange. Each season is unique. Each a part of the beauty that surrounds our Lodge
Quiet, serene, beautiful -- a fresh adventure in the leisure life awaits you. Pick your pleasure. Maybe it's a romantic winter weekend. Or a family designed dip into summer water sports. An autumn escape to see Smith Mountain on fire with ever changing colors. Or spring's first battle with the bass and muskies. No matter, you will find them all.
We also offer a great golf discount package... 50% off on green fees at Mariners Landing, a Robert T. Jones golf course which is just ten minutes away! Lots of great restaurants are also within ten minutes as is the state park which offers hiking trails, day activities for children, sandy beach, boating, picnic areas and night entertainment in the summer.
We are located within a day's drive of major southern and northern cities, and are accessible by Smith Mountain Lake Airport's 3,000-foot paved landing strip, away.
We also have a two bedroom Available #12680.

From the moment we walked in, we fell in love. The cabin is so charming and is decorated so cute that it just makes you smile. The view is incredible, maybe the best on the lake. You look right at the water, woods and then Smith Mountain Lake. The owners have also have developed a beautiful garden that leads to the water that adds to the perfect serenity of the cabin. It was spotlessly clean from top to bottom, had comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and the deck furniture is so comfortable and upscale. We loved the slider sofa on the deck. We will be back as our visit was much too short. I am not sure we could beat the view, the price and the charm anywhere on the lake.

Our family has been vacationing at the Lodge at Cedar Key for years. We will never vacation at any other spot! The 50 or so acre no wake cove is simply amazing. We boat all over the lake and know there is no other setting like it. It is so quit and beautiful – no worries about a boat running you over while swimming and kayaking (my favorite). You are surrounded by woods and the view of Smith Mountain in amazing. We also love our long walks down beautiful Cedar Key Lane which is heavily wooded on both sides of the road, just lots of deer. And the Lodge itself is simply magnificent. It is always spotlessly clean and the décor is perfect for a mountain setting and very comfortable. The open layout of the house works so well for large gatherings and the floor to ceiling fireplace makes it ever so inviting. The oversized deck is incredible especially the old oak tree which offers its majestic branches to totally covers the entire deck. We have found renting from the Yowell's to be so enjoyable as well. They are totally committed to making sure you have a fantastic vacation. The house is well maintained, you will find anything and everything you need to make your vacation perfect. You will want to come back year after year, just like us.

The house was extremely clean, well kept and love the decorating. Very cozy. We never got off the deck. Great memories were made. Hope to be able to come back – little far from upstate New York but worth the trip.

Our overall experience at the Lodge at Smith Mountain Lake was absolutely wonderful. The beautiful drive down the lane to our rental is so secluded and gives you a sense of peace and security. From the moment we arrived, the owners contacted us to confirm that we were satisfied with our lodging and to assure us that they were available for any questions or concerns during our stay. In all of the years that my husband and I have rented vacation homes, this by far was the most hospitable and accommodating place we have ever experienced. The inside décor was beautiful, from the living area to the bedroom and master bedroom shower, which I might say was very functional and elegant. We really enjoyed the wall of windows overlooking the lake. This was the place we sat and relaxed had a cocktail or two, and enjoyed the tranquil evening. P.S. this was our pet(s) favorite place too. Our one dog would just look out either the window or the deck and watch the people and nature pass by. We would definitely consider coming back to this home in the future and would recommend this place to those who enjoy a beautiful view, many amenities, and a cook’s kitchen. The lake offers many acres of water adventures, several restaurants with a variation of dining and fun, along with many marinas for needed boating supplies. For fine dining you must try Benjamin’s, if you can find it!

Our only complaint was that our one-week stay was way too short!! Everything about the lodge was perfect . . . the place was immaculate, the furnishings were tasteful and comfortable, and the view was stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return!

I was really surprised at how maintained they keep this place. Everything about my stay was perfect. The marina is not that far away and I just followed the ridge line to find the house from my wave runner. If you don't have a good sense of direction, this may be a challenge for you. There is a store right down the street and another one about six miles away (very $$$), so I wasn't worried about the little things (jelly, eggs, bread, aloe, etc.) The dump isn't that far so disposal was a piece of cake (remember to double wrap...smell lasts a while). I highly recommend spending a week or two at this rental. -Valmont

This is an absolutely beautiful house! We walked in and were automatically smitten with the huge open area with the awesome view of the lake! The great room is big enough to have been divided into comfortable areas to sit and do whatever you want: sit and enjoy the beautiful view; play a game or solve a jigsaw puzzle at the "game" table; vegged in front of the flat screen TV; cozy up with loved ones on a cold night in front of the rustic stone fireplace or just sit and listen to the XM Radio! The kitchen was beautiful with granite countertops and everything you need to make a wonderful meal! 3 standard bedrooms with the master having a luxury walk-in, 3 head tiled shower! WOW! All in all, we had a wonderful time here and would definitely recommend this home to everyone!

Our family has been enjoying the Lodge for 10 years. It is a beautiful place to relax, laugh, eat, swim, sun, boat and read. Our family enjoys the well equipped kitchen for our annual "Cook Offs" we all love to cook and it's a pleasure in the updated Lodge kitchen. The Lodge and Cedar Key area is always immaculate and comfortable. The water and mountain views are breath taking. We also rent Cabin 6 and it gives us the best of both worlds, being close to all the family with a place to go if you just want a little peace and quiet. The cabin is also well decorated and equipped. We have had little reason to contact the owners but they have always been available for us. I would be delighted to recommend Cedar Key as the best vacation home for all ages. My husband does use a cane but can get around just fine; the walk down to the water, via the road is a wonderful way to get a little exercise on vacation.

Review Submitted April 21, 2008 Date of Stay April 10, 2008

My husband and I are seasoned travelers and we both think this week was one of the best vacations we've ever had! The Lodge was lovely, with beautiful views of the water and mountains. Upon arrival, we were delighted to find it VERY clean, furnished beautifully and we loved the beautiful, well supplied kitchen and lovely bathrooms!! Especially the master bath! The deck, overlooking the mountains and water was the most serene spot. We enjoyed most of our meals out there as well. If you don't want to cook, there are good restaurants within a 10 minute drive. The Lodge also has a beautiful stone fireplace that has also encouraged us to come back in the fall. If you are looking for a beautiful spot, great house with super amenities, you can't go wrong! We will be back every year!!
