Vacation Rental Description
This large, unique lakefront home, fondly called "Bryant Pond Station," is a piece of Maine history. In the late 1800's, it was a thriving part of a clothespin mill. Now it is a gathering spot for swimming, boating, and fishing, hiking and biking, hunting or just enjoying the fall foliage, and especially skiing.
This is a great getaway for vacations, family reunions, company outings and even weddings. Besides being barely 20 minutes from the Sunday river ski resort, it is just 10 minutes to Mount Abram ski slopes, 45 minutes to Mount Washington, and a little over an hour from Portland. It is about 3 hours from the Boston area and is about the same driving time from Boston as it is to drive to the North Conway, NH area. Don't forget to ask about our "repeat- renter" discounts.

Easy to get to and fun for families and large groups.
Equipped with canoes, a rowboat, pedal watercraft, kayaking....lots of fun in the sun.
In winter, the lake freezes over for ice fishing, ice skating, and great skiing at the famous Sunday river ski resort is just a short drive away.
Since the western lakes and mountains of Maine are the doorway to the great White mountains of New Hampshire, there is an unlimited amount of hiking, biking, and canoeing in the area. Mount Washington boasts the world famous Cog railway and the Auto Road if you think your vehicle can take the punishment. North Conway is loaded with stores, outlets, restaurants and the Conway scenic Railroad with its breathtaking trips through Crawford notch. In nearby Jackson, NH is Storyland, a must for the kids. Bethel, located 10 minutes to the north, is the largest village in the vicinity with its olde New England style feel, the small shops and restaurants, and the historic Bethel Inn with its beautiful golf course. The BIG adventure center, located on route 26 just over the Androscoggin river bridge, has indoor laser tag, and boasts a superb rock-climbing gym. Outdoors, there is an 18 hole mini-golf course and a water slide. There is an arcade and they also serve light fare. Across the street is the Bethel outdoor adventure (207-824-4224). Here you can rent canoes and they will shuttle you up to 15 miles to the west, so you can canoe the Androscoggin River, taking in the magnificent scenic vistas of the White mountains, see some wildlife and maybe even a moose! The river is safe and easy to canoe with a nice current for most of the trip. Sunday River ski area (207-824-3000) offers spectacular chair lift rides to the top of Barker mountain for mountain viewing AND if you are a die-hard mountain biker you can bring your bike along and trail your way back down. Western Maine is famous for its mining of tourmaline crystals and other gems and minerals. You can go on a tour and try your luck at some digging. Ever tried Paintball? Coulthard's, located in Rumford, 25 minutes away has it. Also in Rumford is the huge Mead paper company mill. Ever wonder how paper is made? Go on a tour and see first hand. These are a few of the many things there are to do in Maine's western lakes and mountains region.
