This property is a popular retreat of peace and relaxation.
We are often asked whether or not the waterfront is suitable for children and how the swimming is? The answer to both is simple - this is a great property for swimming. The bottom along the shore and around the dock is all sandy. Because of the steep shoreline, a walkway leading to stair down to the dock gives you access to the water - so children should be comforatble with stairs. There is not a beach area, but the water at the edge of the shore, which is accessed by a stairway, is only a foot or so deep and gradually gets deeper, making it a great place for young children to swim and wade without a drop off. The water depth at the end of the dock is 6 feet, great for diving in. There is a swim ladder and then an inflatable swim float anchored offshore.

All through the summer, as she enjoys canoeing, swimming, and watching the wildlife around the lake, she wonders about the lonely bird and what its life is like." This beautiful property is located on Crawford Lake in Union near Camden/Rockland and the Mid-Coast. Crawford Lake is the only lake in the Camden/Rockland area with no public access. As a result, the lake is enjoyed mostly by those who live on it, about 100 cottages or so. It is a special lake, about 3 miles long and a mile wide at it's widest point. There are several coves to find a calm spot for waterskiing, and a large island in the middle of the lake owned by the Georges River Trust that you can explore.
At the end of a private 1/2 mile road, this cottage enjoys a lot of privacy. If you have children or like to walk, you have a lot of space to enjoy without the hassle of camp road traffic, a busy road or neighbors.
Just a short 5 minute drive from the village in Union, this property is convenient to gas, grocery store and Beth's fresh food stand.
A wood fired sauna sits at the water's edge. Relax in the steaming hot sauna then go jump in the lake to cool down.
Entering the cottage, you will find the kitchen which is completely filled with all you need to cook a gourmet meal. To the right, is the large living/dining/sitting room with picture windows facing out across the lake with spectacular views.
Also, downstairs is a large bathroom with tub/shower and washer/dryer- all located off a queen size bedroom.
Upstairs, you enter a large cozy room with built-in bunk beds and an area large enough for any children in your group to "set up camp". There is also a 1/2 bath with toilet and sink. Through the bunk room is a large master bedroom with a king-sized bed. The property is comfortably furnished with LL Bean camp decor. You will never want to leave!
Around the property are the wood fired sauna building, a fire pit, and a great dock/porch to sit down and enjoy the views. Comfortable cushioned outdoor chairs and a table will help you entertain outside. There is a hammock near the water's edge to enjoy your favorite beverage and watch the time and loons go by.
