This beautiful Old Victorian-Colonial House in Rockport Maine is one of the few original homes left in this picturesque New England harbor. The house has been completely renovated and updated, combining the old original charm with the new construction freshness and convenience. This House is full of History. Parts of the house date back to the 1860's. There are relics from the Civil War, found during the renovation. The wooden floors on the third floor were there before the electrical wires were installed. One of the bathrooms, featuring the high porcelain toilet tank and the clawfoot tub is from 1918. In 1932, it was owned by the philantropist Mary Curtis Bok, the founder of the Curtis Music Institute in Philadelphia. At that time the property was called, "The Community House", many artists, musicians, painters enjoyed the large rooms, the splendid large porch, and the sloped lawn.
The House is 5 Minutes away from the International Photographic Workshops and the Rockport College for the Arts, and 12 min from the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship.5 min away from Bay Chamber Concerts at the Rockport Opera House.
Located on the Eastern side of the Rockport Harbor, the property has a gorgeous view from all windows. There are beautiful antiques and rugs, as well as all new beds, ranging from King size to twin. The master bath in the Triplex is all new with Jacuzzi Kohler tub. All designer linens supplied. There are 2 large Kitchens, both are wonderful breakfast rooms. There is lawn furniture available for sitting and dining. The Ocean is directly accessable for sailing and kayaking.
The Gym, Tennis Courts, and Golfing are Nearby...
Only 15 minutes to shopping, movie theatres, restaurants, museums, horseback riding, or lake swimming.
This House can be rented as a whole, or in individual sections, the triplex apt, the duplex apt, and the large studio, with the wonderful ocean view, on the upper floor of the barn.
This studio, swiss chalet style, has a bath and a kitchen, a loft, halogen lights, two double beds and it is fully equipped. There is also a large studio on the main floor of the barn, which can be rented with the duplex, to larger families. All sections have private entrances and privacy is guaranteed.
The Barn Studio is totally separate from the Main House. Famous artists and photographers have lived here. Now it is offered as a vacation place and retreat to visitors interested in exploring the beauty of this region, to young couples and to photography students.
With a generous 400 sq feet of space,beautifully furnished, with white berber carpet, white fresh walls, nice pine floors and walls, hallogen lights, well equipped kitchinette, bathroom with shower, nice linens, table and chairs, the room has a clean rustic feel. The large windows and the balcony offer a magnificent view of the large lawn and garden and of all the harbor activity.

A security deposit is required upon reservation, 25% of the rental, reimbursable at the end of the stay.Full amount of rate, 7% rental tax and cleaning fee due 30 days prior to arrival. Rental is by week, and by month, min stay 3 nights off season. Winter rates are available, max occupancy 6-8 between Sept20-May20. Summer weeks should be reserved starting Jan 1st. Refunds on security deposits only at the discretion of the owner, based on some weeks' demand.
Directions:
Atlantic Mid-coast, Northeast (downeast), 2 hrs ride from Portland Intern Airport, 3 1/2 hrs north on 95 N from Manchester, NH, or Boston - Logan Airport. Trains and buses run daily from New York and Boston.
Ferries to the Maine Islands and to Nova Scotia, Canada. 10 min ride to Camden and Rt 1. 5 hours south of Quebec, Canada.
